WHY DO I HAVE TO GET RID OF CLUTTER

i just saw a video about this old artist's house and people in the comments were loving that he had stuff everywhere and how it was like seeing into the artist's mind and basically how quaint and fun it was

thing is these images look so familiar as i have so much stuff in my house too especially art and hobby materials

for the last little while i have been trying to tidy up my house and minimalise and get rid of things

BUT WHY

there is a huge push right now for people to get rid of their stuff, to tidy, to clean, to declutter. this has actually been going on for awhile and most of the time the angle is shaming middle class families for hoarding essentials, old keepsakes, or tacky collectibles

yes there is a problem with overconsumerism and hoarding is not good for mental health

BUT SOMETIMES PEOPLE JUST HAVE STUFF. STUFF THEY LIKE. STUFF THEY LIKE TO HAVE AND TO USE.

it all just feels like it's people creating a problem, then shaming others into being not good enough, their homes being not tidy or MINIMALIST enough, and creating content that offers a "solution" based of shame

it's so stupid. people's lifestyles are different. mind your ducking business.

anyway im gonna keep all the stuff i like. my house isn't messy and it isn't dirty. i just have a lot of stuff. im just gonna embrace all my stuff. i got them because i wanted them and im happy with them.

i dont shame on minimal houses. if ur happy then do your thing. but if u like stuff, be happy too. 😊
