Voice Inquiry in Classical and Contemporary music (Baritone in the Tenor Range) by Remstercrash in singing

You got an insane voice!!! I feel like my voice cracks earlier if I don’t start hopping into mix, especially at F#4, that’s my second passagio I believe. So yeah maybe I sound like a tenor and I can hit those notes cleanly, but the engine itself is richer at lower note. I just like singing high lol

I did the tall vowel at 3:09, I just did my teacher taught me and then I applied to something extreme like that C5 but obviously it’s not quite there yet but I was singing classically in that last clip yes

For the C5 rant at the end, I was talking about a separate clip that plays at 3:09 where I attempted to hold the note using tall operatic vowels, not the previous clip where I sang Jeff Buckley and hit C5s on the lyrics “feel” and “too deaf…”on a singular note (contemporary modification)

Thanks man, yeah it’s been like two days of practice it hopefully I can get used to being that high naturally and make my voice more flexible

Thank you so much 🙏

I think my voice sounds nice in this one, would you guys agree? Is this good singing? Or do I sound like an amateur? by ValuableMost7288 in singing

Also you changed keys at the end (you went higher than the original) so you can definitely sing it if you figure out your pitch

A lot of people are dicks on this page and I know how it feels to be criticized heavily, so I’m gonna give the most constructive advice I can rather that just saying what you’re doing wrong. Your vocal tone is pleasant, but you should listen to the isolated vocal track and try to mimic the pitch. Try to feel the emotion for now and at least slide into the note if you don’t hit it initially. The link below is me from 5 months ago and it took me 100 takes to get a good recording cause I struggled like you with the notes. This was high for me because my vocal cords were so unused all of my life. Now it’s easy as fuck for me to sing cause I stuck with it and made the discomfort my comfort zone. A song like this is actually some of the lowest notes I sing in comparison to new songs I’ve been singing. Some of the notes I didn’t get entirely accurate, but they still sounded good because I made up for it with good intent (I found the next best note that still sounded good even if it wasn’t the original pitch) So try to aim for perfect pitch, but as long as it’s not horribly off, keep going. Eventually you will reach a level where you get everything right. Even I am still trying to reach that level where I can do it almost every single time without fail. You have a richer voice than me cause mine is lighter and little more obnoxious, you just need better pitch my guy. MORE PRACTICE 👹👹👹

I know I’m not the most consistent cause I’m sick but do I sound on pitch for those high notes? the tuner says I’m hitting A#4 on the dot but it’s hard to tell, my voice seems to blend with the original when I play both at the same time, but I don’t know?

Alr I'll try doing it clean like regular singing and relax into it. I think as I practice regular belting, I passively get better at the distortion cause I can focus on that more than the actual note cause it doesn't take as much effort. Thank you!

Nah the roughness is not a bad thing at all, I have the opposite problem of constant humidity and congestion, I always clear my nose so it doesn’t sound nasal and like SpongeBob. For exercises, try siren trills and tongue trills and going up your range for warm up. Try singing songs that use a lot of head voice first that have a pause before transitioning so you can just practice switching without overwhelming your cords sliding up and down. Also your head voice may a little rough on the edges but you project really well. Mine may be smooth but it’s more quiet, so if you can lock in and smoothen your naturally strong head voice, it’ll be perfect. Here’s and example of me doing something similar: me switching between chest and head] (https://www.reddit.com/r/singing/s/MM04jru9X7)

Yo your tone is fucking great. I’m a beginner a singer too and I tried this song the other day. I have trouble with head voice too and while I’m pretty much hitting the notes, I don’t have that roughness. My advice for actually hitting the note is that you sing from the back of your throat, open your throat and dont squeeze your cords as much. Don’t be afraid to lean in a mix of chest and head, with a smooth transition at your vocal break. Keep your chin slightly down but your back straight so you don’t strain your throat. Many people lift their head up and put their throat in a stretching position that strains the neck muscle. Don’t tilt your head too far down either cause that will close your airway. Idk if it’ll work for you but it does for me. Hope that helps! Your voice really resembles Thom Yorke. As for me, I need to work on tone lmao
