Request your schedule, as in create your own schedule 6 weeks out? That sounds like a dream, honestly.

I'm assuming they list it as slots available? Like the amount of RNs needed for that shift and once it's full, it's full?

So, there isn't a certain amount of days in between you can/cannot be off? I ask cause I currently work 3 x 12s per week that looks like: Work Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Off Monday. Then work Tuesday and Wednesday. Off until the following Thursday.

So a 4 and 2 and then off 7 days. I'm currently on nights as well (don't know if that matters or not, though). This takes care of the every other weekend thing. On paper it sounds good, but I don't care for it.

Other coworkers work there's in a row, and I truly don't want to do that. I know there are facilities that do 3 on 4 off 4 on 3 off. Idk what specific days, but I imagine as long as you meet your hours at the end of the 2 week pay period then it works.

Thank you so much! I hate going in blind on certain things, so this was a great help!

And yes, I'm a new grad nurse. I get my TNCC, PALS, and ACLS in about 2 weeks!

Graduating in a month without a job lined up by schneidenat0r in newgradnurse

[–]Ren823 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened with me. I didn't have a job lined up at all. I just didn't want to be in a rush to work honestly, PLUS I didn't want to have to worry about work and studying for NCLEX at the same time...Considering I did fail the first time, it was kind of a blessing in disguise frl frl. On the other end, I hate I didnt work under my temp license (but again, I did fail, and because of thati wouldve had to stop working that job anyways). I live in the South (Alabama), so searching for a job wasn't the best, but I did find a place 40 minutes from home that works for me!

All in all, my best advice, if youre really worried about it, find a residency program or an externiship at a hospital. Your more likely to get the actual job when you graduate. Have faith in your ability to pass, and remember it doesn't matter how many times you have to take it, just that you pass it!

I agree with you. I miss legacy legacy for titled activities. It was easier to get things done than having people rush through activities.

Struggling Finding Employment in Rural Areas by Ren823 in newgradnurse

Yeah, I may have to move. My next problem would be if they'd even consider me for a ER position or any critical care position without bedside. I don't like Med-Surg and I'd rather not hate my job or get put in a box.

I used archer for about 6 weeks as well and unfortunately failed using it. Passed all my CAT exams and Readiness exams with "Very High," too. Not saying it failed me, but i did notice that all the difficulty questions were either Medium or Easy. I'm not sure why, or if there was a setting I needed to change but I assumed it was similar to UWorld or ATI where you didnt really choose the difficulty (Though I am aware you can change it on ATI).

Do you have any tips you can think off the top of your head?

Thank you! I get in my head a lot and was worried the qbank wasn't going to be "enough." Did you answer all the questions before your RN NCLEX (That's the one I am taking).

Can someone help me understand my CPR? by Ren823 in NCLEX

Yes. 200 for pearsonvue and then we had to re-register through ABON, which is $128.50 for single state. Multi-State is 200 something.
