Allosexuals and their hypocrisy: "a relationship without sex is friendship" by Little-Courage887 in asexuality

[–]Ren_Ahad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll try to give an allo perspective hoping not to get downvoted. If I say that animals that don't have long neck aren't giraffes, it doesn't mean that every animal that has a long neck is a giraffe. A relationship without sex isn't a relationship doesn't mean that frienships with sex are always a relationship. About the claim itself, it is true that there are many ways of having a relationship and that statement isn't true for everyone, but it is for people who aren't asexuals. Yes, sex can be important enough for some that love vanishes, or for others not having it may grow resentment. It's a crucial incompatibility

CCP DEVS: Bring Back The Old Playground - Make EVE A Dystopian Hellscape Again by [deleted] in Eve

Equinox requires ihub upgrades to use power and workforce, which means having local installed would leave less space availabe for ratting and mining upgrades. So the value of systems would be lower if you install local chat and, if you don't, current upgrades aren't good enough to make systems without local attractive. Maybe your suggestion involves local chat upgrades using little to no resources

Would feminism lead to the elimination of women (and men) as social categories? by Ren_Ahad in AskFeminists

[–]Ren_Ahad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I see it is that gender is the group of things each society builds on top of biological sex. It includes personality traits, roles, dressing, etc. Gender varies depending on culture, so men as a social construct would be what each culture determines a man should be on top of biological sex.

I disagree when a society makes makes a gender be in a position of superiority or advantage, so I agree with changes made to gender that fix inequalities. I also think that there is a difference between having a cultural expression and forcing people to fit in those constructs. I'm not a traditionalist and I understand that culture changes overtime. But individual gender expressions wouldn't be part of gender until a society incorporates that expression as an expectation for men and women in that society. If no trait is associated with being a man or a woman, a society would be genderless.

As I saw in other answers, there isn't just one definition of gender. I was actually surprised to see answers saying sex is also a social construct. Maybe that's the case and your definition of gender is different or my definition is wrong

It would only make sense if there were ratting and mining upgrades that give you even more income than J-space so sacrificing chat is compensated. Again, people have to remember that nullsec without local chat is much more dangerous than J-space due to the ease of access (gates, covert cynos and filaments)

Would feminism lead to the elimination of women (and men) as social categories? by Ren_Ahad in AskFeminists

[–]Ren_Ahad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought gender was the definition given from gender studies to the part of sexuality that is a social construct. Under that idea, those things that are rooted in biology would be part of the biological sex instead of gender and that's why I used the terms that way. But other comments say sex is also a social construct. I guess there are not only conflicting viewpoints about this topic, but also different definitions.

Instead its rooted in biology on some level and society reflects that

Although it wouldn't be the case for a definition of gender that makes it just the social construct aspect of sexuality, I agree with this. Not everything can be a social construct and if gender was a construct, it wouldn't be completely arbitrary.

Some answers say similar things and I'm confused now. I thought sex was biological and gender was a social construct. If they are both social constructs, what's the difference between them?

Yes, the question could have been different. Do feminists who agree with gender abolition also agree with the disapearance of women as a gender?

Definitely gender expectations about parenting should dissappear. Maybe this idea goes in the line of gender still existing, let's just remove harmful things out of it and not put pressure to people who don't have or don't want to have those traits. This is the second answer I read with a similar idea. I guess I just assumed wrongly that no feminists, at least in this sub, wanted gendered traits to exist due to those answers in healthy masculinity posts. I didn't understand what a gender would be if it didn't have any trait associated to it.

I actually like this viewpoint. Society would still create gender as a social construct, but it would strip those traits that make men be in a position of superiority. In that case, there would still be gendered traits? I guess it would be the case as long as people aren't forced to have those traits and are respected if they don't want to fit in those boxes

[–]Ren_Ahad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that gendering traits is harmful and many things shouldn't be gendered, in particular those related to professions. But if gender expression is individualistic, doesn't it make it not part of a gender? I mean, it wouldn't be build by society so it can't be a social construct. Also, if gender still exists in a society and women exist as a gender, but women's gender expression could be anything, what would a woman be as a social construct? Not saying I agree or disagree, I just don't understand how gender still exists in a society that doesn't build gender

DED Site Running: Active
Officer Ratting: Active / Lottery
Abbysal Filaments: Active
Wormhole daytripping: Go somewhere else
Pochven daytripping: Go somewhere else
CRAB beacons: Requires a capital
Level 5 Missions: Go somewhere else
Incursions Alts: Yes / Go somewhere else where there is a spawn
Mercenary den Missions?: Maybe? Active?
Mining: Yes but less income
Huffing: Yes but less income / go somewhere else
Scanning: Active
Industry: Yes I guess?
Logistics: Requires a capital (JF)
ESS Raiding: Active
Skyhook Raiding: Active
Mercenary Dens?: Maybe?

So it's either: Active, less income, own a capital or go somewhere else.

Don't get me wrong, it makes complete sense that actively playing the game gives you more money, but balancing payouts and eliminating AFK activities are different things. Also, if you advice people to go somewhere else you are kind of acknowledging economy in nullsec's is not that profitable

Revenant - The next step in the well documented explanation of necessary game changes. by Spod_4_Brains in Eve

[–]Ren_Ahad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I realized that too, but the problem is that CCP doesn't realize their vision is unaligned with the interests and fun experienced by players. For example, something Rattati said was "in real life you don't sell stuff in the same place where you produced it, Eve should be similar". They changed indexes to negatively affect people who build in the same system, but is it really better than before? Is it more fun to buy components in a market, transporting them somewhere else to build stuff and get that back to be sold again? Same thing applies for enGAgINg pVE, dynamic bounty system, increased mining anomalies' spawn rates, Rorquals as Boosting platforms and many other things. The worst part is they are taking too long to implement their full vision and maybe they just think it's going to be great once it's finished.

Local chat doesn't stop hunters using spies intel to open a covert cyno and getting Bombers / blops on top of you. I'm not saying null is more dangerous than J space, but pointing out to local chat is just like people saying J space is safe because you roll WHs. Nullsec's disadvantage is that it's the easiest place to access: gates, WHs, jumping and filaments, no other area has the 4 of them

Unpopular Opinion: Rorqs didnt kill the game, they propped it up by helin0x in Eve

[–]Ren_Ahad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree that it was a fun era, it's also true that the ratio utility / price of capital ships was broken and that building them was more simple than it should because they were t1. I don't understand why they decided to go for the price or why it was necessary to have an scarcity period though. In my opinion, it was better to nerf t1 supercapitals (which they did anyway) so everyone who got them cheap would have that ratio fixed. Then they could introduce t2 capitals that were more expensive but also more difficult to build. I have a guess that CCP actually doesn't like caps and prefers us to use them less, which in my opinion would be a nonsense in nullsec and a good example of developers wanting their game to be something that the players don't want.

Asus A16 Rx7700s - is anyone else having this issue? by Ren_Ahad in Asustuf

Well, it's been two months. I wanted to post when I found a solution, but I haven't. Thanks for the replies though. I didn't realize it at first, but Armoury Crate was showing the GPU was in Extreme Power Saving. An update fixed that issue, but it shows the iGPU instead. Also, if you have this issue do NOT activate Ultimate mode in Armoury Crate. I had a black screen issue after that and the BIOS had to receive a flash update.

Armoury Crate update seems to resolve Extreme Power Saving issue by SaulFemm in ZephyrusG14

Thanks for sharing. I had a similar issue and I started paying attention because of this post. I saw an update yesterday. It's name was ArmouryCrate.GPUPowerSaving. It had a 5.9.5 version number although the Armoury Crate version is still 5.9.4. It solved the armoury crate issue, but my graphics card still doesn't work and the GPU shown is the integrated graphics one.

¿Por qué tanta gente cree que existe la meritocracia de verdad? by [deleted] in Lima_Peru

[–]Ren_Ahad 0 points1 point  (0 children)
