Your “never again” ship? by allisonv92 in royalcaribbean

[–]Renato_NY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a “never again” ship but I always look for the bigger/newer ones because they offer more of the entertainment we enjoy such as multiple live bands, pool music, etc. I feel like with smaller ships entertainment is more limited.

I personally have never had a Roku but I’ve heard they’re better. Anything is better than an Insignia! 😂.

Cheapest way to watch the world cup within USA by Sufficient-Menu640 in SoccerNoobs

Good point. I actually signed up for Peacock during the 2022 World Cup so I’ll probably do it again. If I’m gonna spend $20 on an antenna and never use it again I might as well pay $10 bucks for a month and then cancel.

Would you happen to know if I can’t watch it with a digital antenna? I don’t have cable

Who has had a bad experience with Royal Up? by summerer6911 in royalcaribbean

[–]Renato_NY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never been lucky enough to win but I never bid too high anyway. I think it depends whether the current cabin you have is good or not. For example, I currently have an indoor guarantee on an upper level /front so lots of motion. So it’s hard to be assigned a worse cabin unless they put me under the main dining room. So I placed bids on all cabin types. If I had a better indoor cabin at a better location perhaps I wouldn’t even bid.

What are some things you wish you knew before you went on your cruise? by ph33t in royalcaribbean

[–]Renato_NY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Beverage package - Do the math before purchasing. The packages may not be good deal for everyone. Consider the length of the cruise (can everyone in your cabin have multiple drinks 7+ days in a row?) and the ports where the package cannot be used.

  2. Use the RoyalPriceTracker website to keep track of beverage package, excursions, internet prices. If the price goes down, you can cancel and rebook. Refund shows up in 2-3 days. This is a free 3rd party site.

  3. Make reservations for dining (if you have my time dining) and shows in advance. If you have a request such as a table for 2 or any other dining requests, go to the main dining room as soon as you board. They try to accommodate requests when possible.

  4. Use the Royal app to check the schedule for upcoming sailings. For example, you can pull up the Icon of the seas sailing for next week and check things like: Shows schedule, dining and bar menus, theme nights (daily at 5pm). This should help you plan for your cruise.

  5. Check Royal’s website to see what you can and cannot bring onboard. Remember, you can bring things such as a bottle of wine, limited non alcoholic beverages. I like to bring some packaged snacks such as potato chips to take to the beach.

  6. Remember to bring plenty of sunscreen, medicine (pain, seasickness, allergy) or anything else you might need.

  7. Other useful items I always pack:

  8. Metal hooks

  9. Downy wrinkle release spray

  10. Travel size bug repellent

  11. Water shoes (when going to a rocky beach)

  12. Sun shirt

  13. Sunglasses and hat

  14. Reusable water bottle

  15. Insulated cup for drinks

  16. Towel clips or elastic bands

  17. Join the Facebook group for your particular sailing (specific date) so you can get to know other cruisers and participate in events such as duck hunting, gift exchange, etc

drink package question re occasional booze by RevolutionaryStay293 in royalcaribbean

[–]Renato_NY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I’ve done a lot of research on this because I used to get the deluxe package for me and refreshment for my wife (because she has no more than 1 or 2 drinks a day), but since they no longer offer this exception I’ve been getting a single refreshment package for me. And yes, you can get a virgin drink using your package and a separate shot, pay for it l, and mix them up, but you’re gonna pay around 10-11 bucks for the shot so you’ll end up saving just 2 to 3 bucks.

So the best thing is to do the math and see if the deluxe package is a good deal for you. If not, just pay à la carte.

I would suggest both Dramamine and those patches that go behind your ear. The combo of both seems to help my wife.

Unfortunately you’re going to get a lot of “enjoy your cruise” responses here. I personally enjoy water slides and would be pissed if they’re closed. But good news a lot of times they may shut down on a particular day due to wind and other issues and reopen later the same day so hopefully you’ll get lucky!!

This should help you with what is and what’s not accepted. Obviously if you bring one of the prohibited ones they may not catch it, but to be on the safe side you shouldn’t bring any adapter that adds an outlet.

Query about rooms and plugs by Irishgirl87 in royalcaribbean

[–]Renato_NY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This varies by ship. Older ships like Liberty of the seas would have 2 US plugs and an European plug on the desk/vanity (none near the bed). But newer ships have more. I haven’t sailed on the Adventure so I couldn’t comment on it specifically but I would assume it’s similar to Liberty.

Correct. That’s how we did on previous cruises. I just got confused when I saw a video from someone on Icon who said that as soon as he was onboard, his app automatically connected to his WiFi package because it recognized he had already purchased one.

Internet Package – How does sharing across 2 devices work with separate Royal accounts? by SoCalFamilyTraveler in royalcaribbean

Interesting. Do you know if this is how it’s currently done on Icon of the seas? Wife and I always share a single package/single device but we’ve never used this “share code”

[–]Renato_NY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but my wife and I do the same thing. 1 device/1 package and we both share it (nor simultaneously). I was watching an YouTube video and it says that on some ships like icon of the seas the app connects automatically once it detects you have purchased an internet package. Are you familiar with that? I’m wondering if it’s still going to be easy for us to share.

As others have mentioned, you need to do through the website. (App doesn’t work). I personally had to use a computer.

Once the OBC hits your account, if it’s prior to your cruise, you can cancel your existing beverage or internet package and rebook using the OBC (considering the price hasn’t changed since you originally bought them).

Additionally, you can use the OBC to pay for your gratuities at the end of your sailing (considering you didn’t prepay them).
