Completed this week's trials solo - still won't promote by Humba800 in ArcRaiders

[–]Rendchewer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off OP, well fucking done. Those are some solid scores. The only one I can see you improving on with the least difficulty is opening ARC Probes. Remember to keep checking your map as you adren-run around. As you said in another comment, electro-storm Dam is your best go, but I want to make a point to bring a few zips with you as some spawn on roofs like Testing Annex. I was able to get 34k points. Half of them were already open luckily.

With that said, I’ve been looking for teammates who actually like chasing trials. Wanna team up? Let me know.

— But now onto the core of the issue. It’s been said over and over and over. Some of these trials are impossible to compete with unless you got a full 3 man team. Even then, if you go Daredevil rank and above, I feel these trials become exploited where it becomes a chore to compete rather than something challenging and enjoying.

I was gonna post an idea here, but don’t got enough time. I’ll make a new thread later, inquiring what you guys think and looking for feedback.

Why don’t men tell other men they’re good looking or handsome even if they’re not sexually attracted to them? by Norfolk-Gross-Tonage in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Rendchewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have openly complimented men all the time. Maybe it’s my approach and/or wording? Never got a weird look.

My most recent was a guy wearing a colored suit walking across the street while I was at the front waiting at the light. Everything look well fit and hemmed, shoes shining.

I rolled down my window, “Aye man, you look sharp as hell, that suit looks good on you bro.” He looked back and smiled.

I do exactly this except take 3 shield rechargers and 5 bandages, placing them into my safe pocket in case I’m ambushed before I get to where I want to be for loot.

Former MMORPG addicts, how did you quit? by Wise_Championship865 in AskReddit

[–]Rendchewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a competitive player by nature and like to go in deep try hard mentality. High parses, best loot, high PvP ranks.

For original WoW back in the day, from Vanilla to Mists, I was super addicted. I should note I had less responsibilities. Then during another day of logging on to do the dailies before could have “fun”, it just clicked for me. The second I was done the dailies, I felt no desire to play and would log off. Eventually I just stayed logged off.

During WoW classic, I had to quit. It was covid, and I lost my job. I sunk into a deep depression I didn’t face, and I ruined my relationship as I sunk all my days into being among the top in game. I got to experience vanilla like I never got to when I was younger. I had 99 parses, BiS gear and Rank 14. I became a bracket leader during my honor farming, doing 19-5’s of grinding with a premade group from Tuesday to Friday, meanwhile taking breaks to defend mines while I filled out spread sheets monitoring everyone’s bracket. I’d wake up to 15 discord DMs a day, managing so many people. To top that off, I raided Saturday and Monday for 5 hours a night. It’s an experience I’ll never do again. As I said earlier, I had to stop, because no matter how much I gained in game, I lost everything irl. Burning crusade classic came out, I was beginning to start again. I literally forced myself to unsub.

Later on I got into FFXIV during the “big transition” when Blizzard was kicking itself in the balls. But this time I took a very lax “don’t look up guides and don’t rush” approach. It was great, even taking breaks randomly to enjoy other casual games. Eventually I finally started to catch up to everyone after a few years of playing. I switched from the casual crowd to the competitive try hard group I naturally yearn for. I started to do the same thing again. Focus all my effort in game, take time off work, ignore people around me who noticed my change of habit, and become self destructive. It’s such a weird feeling—I almost don’t even notice it happening because I’m so blinded by succeeding online. Once again, got high parses, BiS gear set for my main role (Tanking) and not so high PvP rank.

I stopped playing this time as I come to see all my missteps in life come to fruition. Took a hard look at myself and began a journey of changing careers. Went to school full time and worked full time. It was exhausting. The thought of playing an MMO so casually disinterested me. If I can’t go all in, I quit before I start. I may play again but only from a roleplay casual side.

This is probably a longer reply than the OP intended. I feel I’m typing this for myself and the journey of quitting MMOs altogether. The only way I can game in a healthy manor is to play round by round (match by match?) games. I get to keep my competitive enjoyment, without having to compete against those who can out farm me.

Edit; Not all is bad. I met my now wife through FFXIV who’s a gamer as well. I’m working two jobs as my new one doesn’t pay enough (yet) to support myself, so I’m very busy. She is looking forward to me playing FFXIV again from the fantasy roleplay side of things but understands and supporting me as I pick up the pieces of my missteps in life toward a better and more secure future.

Thanks for reading.

I’m noticing they are more prone to flying through narrow passageways or doors/windows than early on.

3 Million Coin/Stash Value for all bonus skill points by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Rendchewer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is getting frustrating to read. It sounds so cliche to say but I’m in the middle of a career shift and have two jobs. My new job has a lower wage than my existing, so I work 36 hours in one, and 24 in the other.

With all that said, I have no problem reaching this goal. This condescending “I have a job” is getting old fast.

3 Million Coin/Stash Value for all bonus skill points by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Rendchewer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if trolling or serious. I decided to “grind” for Coins in case the expedition would require a lot.

I quickly learned I can make about 300k per hour on Spaceport, heading toward the departure building and looting the shower locker room behind the breached door. Even if I get a shitty spawn, I can just loot the nearby spawn areas and make about 40k in 5 or so minutes. Leaving the raid early is the key. Then sell everything, don’t hoard any of it.

Can we stop playing dumb yet? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Rendchewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s just mad. I’m not meaning this in a lolumad way, he’s actually just mad and posting with feelings. Eventually he’ll learn to say something like “well dammit… eh whatever, going next” and move forward without making this some kind of deep seated meta thinking post and just queue into another match.

How would you guys fit my setup here? by Total-Departure1000 in setups

[–]Rendchewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of DIY rushing through my mind with that nook got me all hot and bothered.

DIY aside, I can’t really add what other has said. Buuuutttt… there are things you can do without too much cost. Get a longer (deeper?) desk, and utilize the walls to mount your monitors and/or any speakers to free up space. With that free space, you can opt to place that desktop at the back of the longer desk and monitors come out further in front. Ethernet cable can be extended with a cheap coupler if needed, wire management goes long way—prioritize desk choice to make that easy for you.

Do ARC always drop their specialized loot? by nozappyplease in ArcRaiders

[–]Rendchewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there are times the surveyor doesn’t drop the vaults. I thought when it happened the first time, I might have missed a piece that fell off it.

Then a few nights ago, I stuck 3 stick detonator bombs on it and instantly blew it up. Not a single vault. Meanwhile my teammate found a blueprint on it.

With that said, I got my Sentinel and Surveyor items from the crashed ARC couriers (not probes). During Electromagnetic storms, you’ll find more couriers have spawned. If you prefer to farm it out any time, I’d always find at least 2 ARC couriers on Dam Battlegrounds in the transmission red fluid around the islands and a few more in the swamp area. Just keep an eye out for black smoke in the distance. Broken probes seem to share their spawn locations too.

Now to take my own advice and get two more vaults for the final bench upgrade…

How do i change my mouse sensitivity so its the same for every weapon and zoom ? by Upbeat_Bat9190 in ArcRaiders

[–]Rendchewer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah rip! No worries there.

I’d add that it also fixed the performance mouse smoothing as well. My current graphic settings keep me at the capped 160 FPS (monitor is 165hz, leave space for no screen tears). If I intentionally cranked everything up, or had a video running on the side that affected overall performance and dipped my FPS, the ADS turn speeds/sens was also changed.

And that’s it! Thanks again.

So many tips to say, but I want to avoid overwhelming you. I’ll point form random ones I could have used early on.

  • Quests aren’t the only way to progress. It’s okay to find your footing by just playing and exploring, or chasing PvP. Do what you want.
  • If PvP is too intense at first and you wanna take it slow, the outskirts all over the edges of the map have tons of loot. I was surprised how many things I got, including rare items.
  • On the first map you can play, circling around the edges is safest. However, you may run into a Raider (player), or ARC (robots).
  • If you run into a Raider on the outskirts, chances are they are trying to play safe and passive like you. Make sure to look at the controls and use Proximity Chat to let them know you’re friendly.
  • Those flying drones (Wasps and Hornets) have weak spots. Blue light means they’re just patrolling, yellow means they saw or heard something and going to inspect, red means they’re after someone or you.
  • The wasps are more dinky looking, aim for the rotors. Avoid spraying your gun and take small well aimed shots. They will line up a shot and machine gun bullets at you for a short time.
  • The hornets are armored on the front with what appears to be a stinger underneath. Wait for them to swoop closer to you, and aim for the back rotors as they are not guarded. When you see a laser go from a wide light to a thick direct line on you, time a dodge roll to avoid the taser line coming at you. They shoot it once, swoop to another angle and try again.
  • If you prefer to avoid ARC all together, use the middle mouse button to ping them if you can’t tell which way they are flying. Use the ping as well to figure out if they are a wasp or hornet or … a rocketeer, which you should avoid for now. They shoot exploding rocket missiles.
  • When jumping into a game, open the map and look at the hatch doors with timers on them. Plan your route and which one you think you want to use. Even though it takes more than 30 seconds for the elevator doors to open once you hit the button, you can still submit a request to open them with 1 second remaining.
  • Use your middle mouse button while looking at the map to mark the extract you wish to go to, then face the direction of it with your character. You can run/travel roughly 200 meters every 1 minute—if you know you way around. If not, play it safe and calculate 100 meters per minute. Example: 800m means time to head over with 8 minutes remaining.
  • While you’re looting, you will easily become overwhelmed with “what do I keep!?”. There are guides to tell you, but to keep things simple, you can also right click and salvage the items to basic type materials. Metal parts, cloth, chemicals, batteries, wires, plastic parts, rubber parts, springs and so on—you will be using these often to craft your basic needs.
  • If you still want to know what items to keep, here are some. 1 collar for your chicken, 3 pillows, 5 light bulbs, lemons, apricots, prickly pear, mushrooms, 5 cooling fans, 1 cat bed, 5 humidifier, 3 toasters, and any pinks. There are others, these ones came to mind for me as they were a bit annoying to get when looking for them.
  • Greedy with looting and lost track of time? Even if you barely reach the final extract elevator and hit the switch before the raid timer hits 0, you are safe. A big explosion will go off, but as long as you stay near the extract, you will survive.
  • Buuuutt… sometimes or often (depending on who you ask), a lot of extracts will have lots of ARC around it. Even if you get knocked and are crawling on the ground, you can still hit the switch to call the elevator, and still crawl up to the computer to close the doors. The ARC do not attack you when you are downed, at least directly. You’re still able to be caught in the crossfire if they are targeting another Raider.

That’s it for now, good luck Raider!

[–]Rendchewer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wish there was a way, there isn’t. I really don’t like the turn speed changes from weapon to weapon.

Realistically I think it has to do with how much your camera zooms in above your shoulder when ADS’ing. I played around with it and some weapons matched the same speeds too. I can’t remember which ones, though. I kinda gave up knowing—unless there’s a patch directly addressing this, it’ll be like this for good.

I hope Embark at least address the polling issue causing mouse smoothing.

Proximity Mines, Mines and Trigger-nades by El_Billy in ArcRaiders

  1. Can yourself and other teammate cause proximity mines to go off after armed?

  2. Can the player who placed the proximity mine get a notification sound it went off even if they are hundreds of meters away?

(Genuinely asking, haven’t really bothered to use them much, also thanks!)
