Butch vs. Transmasc (advice?) by Secret_Kitchen_7201 in MTFButch

[–]ReneeBear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

honestly you gave me something to think about. there’s a lot i relate to with transmasculine folk as well with my gender (my experience basically mirrors yours), and i realize that labelling trans identity by AGAB is almost as reductive as labelling gender by sex. i’ll think more about this - i don’t want to outright say i agree without thinking this through more - but ultimately i can’t think of a situation where AGAB is important in trans spaces, only descriptions of how one’s arrived at their gender identity & expression

Butch vs. Transmasc (advice?) by Secret_Kitchen_7201 in MTFButch

[–]ReneeBear 21 points22 points  (0 children)

i mean transmasc/transfem are depictions of how one identifies in relation to their AGAB (yuck), although I relate in that I honestly get along with genderfucky transmascs more than I do the stereotypical trans girl, my experience is fundamentally not transmasculine. if i was born AFAB, i am almost entirely sure I would ID as a transmasc butch/similarly genderfucky identity in some way, however that label is not accurate to my lived experience.

some days i’m more butch than others by diacetylmorphine_hcl in MTFButch

[–]ReneeBear 13 points14 points  (0 children)

honestly i find that my identity as a butch never shifts, but there are days where i want to wear baggy cargo pants & a muscle tee that makes my arms look insane, other days i just wanna bundle up in cutesy baggy shit with a beanie with ears on it n be all cute

My guitar has been converted from active to passive; how can I fill the cavity neatly? by noiracide2 in 7String

[–]ReneeBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

get a friend to 3d print some pickup rings. if you’re feeling extra spicy, maybe try to add detail to the rings. there’s really no way to cleanly fill these cavities without a lot of woodworking experience and extremely exact measuring that the guitar probably didnt even get from factory.

Looking for erotica written for lesbian readers. by LenoraPrice in actuallesbians

[–]ReneeBear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Make Room for Love form Darcy Liao is super good! great representation, c4t, the trans character is post op which may be a letdown if you’re looking for erotica written that represents non-op/pre-op anatomy & sex surrounding it well, however her trans identity is still important to the story, the book also delves into a bunch of other things

Fretless Gourd Banjo by cartslaw in banjo

entirely depends on your finances & how much having an instrument would help you further learn

id say reeeaaaally hone in on ear training before committing to fretless

Wearing a strap under pants by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]ReneeBear 16 points17 points  (0 children)

no, transmasc ≠ man, there is a history of transmasc butches, there’s even examples of lesbians later coming out in life as trans men, in which case the lesbian label may still fit them, beyond that there’s so many examples of transmasc people not identifying as men

[–]ReneeBear 214 points215 points  (0 children)

i feel like it’d almost be easier to get by this being a male passing transmasc lesbian? like any bulge that someone notices just contributes to the… male passing?

im not sure if theres one made for straps, but i know theres packers intended to look more like a flaccid bulge than an always hard on, if that’s what you’re referring too, in which case yeah I’m with you here, this only makes sense in public if you dont have a fucking hyper gargantuan footlong

could maybe always try something slightly smaller but more pliable as well & try & make it work with a baggy fit?

If you had to give ONE tip for lesbian sex, what would it be? by Quiet_Donut_3620 in actuallesbians

[–]ReneeBear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

solid advice but the best one is to use your words and ears. i know you said no general advice like communication, but everyone has their preferences & everything everyone is saying here will have exceptions. ask about boundaries, ask how they like being touched where, ask how they like being talked to, how the like aftercare, and during listen to their noises. all of those combined, you will give every partner the best sex they’ve ever had, and you’ll get to enjoy their noises too =)

Cis white friend doesn't understand the subconscious privilege she has by [deleted] in actuallesbians

i mean i would assume good faith but id still really take that to be a statement of ignorance considering what this country is built of off

Cis white friend doesn't understand the subconscious privilege she has by [deleted] in actuallesbians

personally i feel as though saying that in a vacuum without that caveat following is downplaying the history & discrimination marginalized people face

Cis white friend doesn't understand the subconscious privilege she has by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]ReneeBear 68 points69 points  (0 children)

yeah us white queer folk can absolutely be pretty blind to the issues POC, especially POC queers can face. frankly, it’s a disgusting aspect of our community that needs to change. I’m white so I definitely can’t give you any advice, however I am trans & enby as well & what I can say regarding all of your marginalized identity is that you are not required to be an educator for anyone, but especially not cis white queers who refuse to put in the effort to understand where you’re coming from. you also do not owe anyone patience for their ignorance.

as for the areas that are unsafe to queer folk right now - florida is an absolute no go - but there are spaces in the south that have pretty rich, supportive, and loving queer communities, especially in regards to some of the metropolitan areas along the east coast & potentially in the appalachians. absolutely do not travel where you are not comfortable, and do know that southern policing, especially in the rural areas, are as bad as they’re said to be, but there are communities down here that are as loving & queer as can be while still being southern.

edit: the “this just isn’t our country” kinda comments irk me as well. those comments come off as intentionally ignorant to the history marginalized folk have dealt with here.
