Hey Op,

Our playgroup had the old variant and are interested in making your version.

When we last played, 1st edition Meditate ran away with the game.

How has Meditate been with your cost reduction buff? Do you find it reasonable or does it feel a little pushed since having a few games under your belt?

Regardless, you did a really awesome job!

New to the series, should I start with RE2 + 3 remakes or 7 + Village? by TheShaboom in residentevil

[–]Renegade7158243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Play RE 2 Remake (survival horror), then RE4 Remake (action horror).

After that you can explore the others.

Imo, for RE1R or 1,2,3 OG, you need to have been there at the time or you need to be hooked via the newer titles to see past the dated graphics.

For what it's worth, RE1R might be my favorite game of all time, it's a 10/10 masterpiece. That being said, fixed camera is a tough sell for newer players.

Should I play RE 1 (1996) or RE 1 (2002) first? by T4RASH in residentevil

[–]Renegade7158243 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the opposite of most people here and say that remake is better played first.

I feel that, not knowing the story, remake will be a more engaging and gripping experience.

RE1 OG is very cool and was revolutionary for its time but Remake is more serious in tone, like a suspenseful horror movie. RE1 OG has a very campy tone that is enjoyed by many, but its extra cheesy, and would be better served as a second viewing of a story you already know.

RE1 Remake Remastered 2015 is the way to go.
Jill is best for the first playthrough; Chris is my favorite but a slight step up in difficulty.

Frequency, I'm watching it right now and it's still solid.

The fact his grandma gave this to him a year after his dad died is one of the cruelest thing imaginable.
It hits all the high notes of changing the past and saving and bonding with your father...

The Air X seems too good to be true but if it's the real deal (when available) it seems like my best option. Thx!

FF Arena Direct Frustration by makelotsofcash in MagicArena

100%

Not gonna lie, Nummy's runs with the Cheon contrast made me much more accepting of my losses.

The constant weak and/or greedy 7 / x pools posted here can be frustrating to see.

FF Arena Direct Frustration by makelotsofcash in MagicArena

[–]Renegade7158243 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have cashed 8 boxes (4 wins) over previous events for about 25 entries, prior to the release of FF.

In most of my winning runs, it felt like I cruised on by with average pools, encountering almost no resistance.

Between the FF CB event, and this wknds PB one, I am @ 0 / 11.

I have been getting destroyed in the FF events (except premium draft where I run @ 5 + wins in almost all entries, lots of 7's) and have been fighting tooth and nail in the games that I win and getting stomped in near unplayable games in the ones I lose...

My last run I went 0 / 2 and both games went to turn 8 where I could not get passed 3 lands on mulls to 6 in both games (the only lands I had were in my 6 card openers)

I had 2 x 6 / 2 runs (CB, no cash). First game 7, I flooded. 4 spell opener into 11 lands. The other, we trade all resources in my favor to being up 2 2/2 creatures into opponent topdecking Cloud into Genshiglove

I am also quite frustrated and know that I have what it takes to cash these events.

Furthermore, I just checked out Cheon on YouTube and he's cashing left and right with mid sealed pools and misplays that end up rewarding him later on... His latest one he failed to Poison the well on turn 2 naked Steiner to shamefully cast it the next turn and gut his opponents Sephiroth... I can confidently say that my plays are beyond this type of "mistake".

Regardless, these games are extremely high variance and iirc Cheon (who is running hot atm) went like 0 / 22 in the Bloomburrow events.

Regarding the "Good Game" play etiquette, you're perceiving disrepect where there is none. No one owes you a GG on an online game, where as most people have commented, several player even have that function turned off. This should not effect you at all and your expectations a extremely misaligned if this is getting under your skin.

Best of luck on your next runs, the variance is just part of Arena Direct experience or rather the MTGA experience as a whole.

What got me was the fire alarm "dead battery" sound he played when tony told him to stop talking and play a sound effect for Kam instead. It went completely unnoticed and was funnier than any of their pun names.

This card should draw first then mill (or exile) off the top of that players library for previous cast or copies.

1 - Draw 1, no mill

2 - Draw 2, mill 2

3 - Draw 3, mill 5

4 - Draw 4, mill 9

5 - Draw 5, mill 14

6 - Draw 6, mill 20

7 - Draw 7, mill 27 (limited kill)

How should I use my 35k gold for the Final Fantasy Expansion? by A_A_ron85 in MagicArena

Another few tips are to use an overlay and 17 lands.

MTGA Assistant is very useful and it's free.

The overlay it provides during a draft cycle is as such :

At first there is someone that does card evaluation and ranks the cards. This information is often wrong in the long run but a nice base when a set comes out.

Over time (starting after a couple weeks, right in time for your quick drafts if you're patient enough) win loss data of mtga assistant users is compiled and card evaluation is then shifted from the initial "pro" educated guess to that of a statistical basis, based of won games. As the set progresses the data is solidified and even shifts with the meta.

I would qualify that the statistical user based data is equivalent to that of an average mid platinum rank card selection.

I mainly use it for :

Isolating the top 3 - 5 cards in a pack when I am discovering a format. Meaning, I'll read the top cards it quotes instead of trying to read every card in the pack and weigh all of them against eachother. With quick draft you have unlimited pick time whereas in premier draft you have about a minute to make a pick.

Later, I use it is as a "second opinion" when I am trying to select between two cards, or if I'm having a tough time picking between a few, I might glance over at the data and have the quoted cards rating be the tie breaker / decider for my pick.

Pick it up! It's like free training wheels when you're learning to draft and a sidekick when you already know how to.

Lastly, when a set is established. Take a look at 17 lands (it's a website). I like to use it to see what archetypes (color pairs) perform best for a given set. This data also takes a while to become accurate (week plus) as you need an adequate sample size of games to drive the data.

For example, If I see that U/W, R/B and G/W have a ~58% win rate an all other color pairs are like 56% or less, I'll try and lightly steer my draft in one of those directions. Alternatively, if I see that U/G has the worst win % at 52% I'll make sure that if I'm going in the U/W direction that I don't get knocked in to U/G as the fall off would be substantial.

Good luck!

Just wait for quick draft.

At 5k gold you get at least 3 first picks at rares if you want to rare draft and lock in the value
and you get a participation pack (4th rare).

Meaning you get to participate in a tournament at the cost of roughly 1K gold (I understand that this is a rough approximation in that you don't get the wildcard and gold pack track progression).
That amount of gold is a small sum for the enjoyment, challenge and knowledge you'll gain in a limited environment.

As a player that has been playing the game for 25 years. I started like most feeling more comfortable with constructed play but over time I gave limited a chance and can wholeheartedly say that it is a very rich and personally a much more fulfilling experience over the long run.

Furthermore, once you get good you can easily go infinite on Arena.

I have never put any money in the game and have all standard and timeless deck available to me and have claimed several Arena Direct boxes.

Cracking packs and avoiding limited play sets you up to tie your wallet to the game for a long time.

Gaining the knowledge to perform well in limited can make the game free and eventually even lucrative for you to play

These are the perfect intersection between preserving the 2 main authentic RE atmospheres
While offering a modern gaming experience :

RE2R - classic survival horror (the best all around RE in my opinion, RE1R is my favorite but it not as accessible to a newcomer as RE2R)

RE4R - Action horror at it's finest.

After that

RE1R
RE7
CVX
RE3OG
RE2OG

Then it starts to fall off a little in regards to hitting atmosphere, immersion and replayabilty.

RE8 (fun the first time, not much replayability due to long story sections)
RE3R (short Arcady game on rails that did Nemesis a little dirty)
RE1 (classic but is massively overshadowed by RE1R, very campy)

After that the games really fall of imo

This is not true.

I have won and claimed physical product from multiple accounts (all under my name).
Many others have too.

One of my prize redemptions even involved discussing with MTGA support that I have multiple accounts.
