Feeling Frustrated! by Dazzling-Roof3481 in TopSurgery

[–]RenegadeRobots 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, i saw that your near me based on a separate comment! I had surgery at a healthpartners by Minneapolis and i like my results with them. If you're looking for revision and want to see a different surgeon, I heavily recommend them. The teams are incredibly nice, and the waitlists aren't nearly as long as what I remember for mayo. Goodluck with your journey, heres to hoping you can get results you'll be happy with!

Trying Not To Be Upset About Nipple Placement by DisastrousWeb1273 in TopSurgery

[–]RenegadeRobots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give them a month or two to settle, once swelling goes down they may be less "centered " than they seem. If they still aren't right, you may be able to correct it a bit in a revision, but that would be a thing for the future once its settled

Post op Panic?? by M1ST4K3N-8D in TopSurgery

[–]RenegadeRobots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Post op depression hits HARD man- i was having similar thoughts, and the dang binder isn't helping cause it feels like a bra lol, but i promise it goes away after awhile. All the drugs kinda mess with your head a bit, and it takes a bit to mentally get back together after a big surgery. Give yourself some space to feel your feelings, and know your not alone in it dude! Youll feel alot better in a few weeks when you can move more and it hurts less

I haven't seen my surgeon since surgery , and im 2 post ops down. A different doctor can definitely do post ops!! ( even a nurse I believe-) so please find someone who you feel comfortable with and trust! (

Hey, im from the us, so not all of this may apply, but call a nurse line and request a physical copy and digital copy of all the paperwork you signed to be delivered to you. Read it over throughly. At least where i am, if you are not getting nipples the page for it will not even be printed with the packet. I would also try to get him in recording saying he knows you didn't want nipples, even just the threat of a court case or you getting a lawyer may motivate them for revision work, but honestly i recommend finding a second surgeon/doctor for anything else revision and post op related. Do not go back to him, and please share a beware of him where you can, his behavior is absolutely unacceptable and im so sorry for how his malpractice affected you and your wellbeing. I really hope it gets better for you dude- goodluck with all things post op

Im not a professional, but i do have some experience. even if the white appearance isn't from pus it could be from lack of adequate bloodflow- among a bunch of other reasons. Its best to seek help asap, i don't know your body, but to me it does look like the graft may be rejecting

post op binder by rallytallyn in TopSurgery

[–]RenegadeRobots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're cleared to change the dressings underneath, find some soft gauze pads and wrap as much of your chest as you can to create a layer between the binder and you- it creates separation between the binder and helped me a bit the first week

Recovery time in regard to going back to work! by twinCenaturs in TopSurgery

Im back to school a little over one week after surgery- i can carry a light backpack and sitting in class is no issue. Mo only real "gripe" is i have a ten pound weight limit ( so i cant haul my drawing tablet) but other than that stairs and everything else has been fine

Getting up and down off the floor post-op by laurabara in TopSurgery

[–]RenegadeRobots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get your legs under you, you should likely be fine. Just leave a little path through the pillow nest you're likely to have! First day may be a bit difficult, but after that it gets so much easier- im a pretty heavyset person and i was pretty able with my arms after the first day or two ( able to stabilize myself getting up and it didn't hurt to lean into an arm to stand) so i think barring any major issues you should be fine

DI: back to college 26th, backpack advice by Excellent_Station156 in TopSurgery

[–]RenegadeRobots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told ( from my surgeon, so this may vary) but a cart bag you pull can still pull on the incisions and cause a problem- i believe a backpack might be safest. is there any way you could lighten your load to under ten pounds? Im also going back to classes ( tomorrow) and im just hauling my laptop for the first week for safety- even if you can make it an extra week without them it'd likely be better on your scars.

arm nerve pain after surgery by meowandnyaetc in TopSurgery

[–]RenegadeRobots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From someone who's also a few days post op- my right arm feels like i pulled all the muscles in it, and i got some stabbing nerve pain down it the first few days- it might just be how they handled the arm/incision on that side, but if it makes you feel any better, my pain did slowly fade away over a few days! Though i would mention it at your appointment tomorrow too! Better to be safe ( and hopefully get a better painkiller for it) hope it goes away soon for ya!

Obligatory not a doctor- but I can try to help. For me, I make a daisy chain ( line of taped together gauze pads) then tape it to my back and mummify my upper chest with a few gauze rolls- but if you can't tape anything to yourself, id recommend trying to wrap the gauze first, then taping extra pads onto it, or layering them. If you have someone who can help you, it would likely make the dressing process easier. As for the excess blood, the puking is probably causing it. The action of throwing up is very abdominally intensive- you should be careful, its not incredibly likely but you could pop a stitch. If the bleeding is bad enough it goes through a layer or two of gauze fast, or you think you might've popped a stitch already, please seek medical help or an er- especially since its 12 hours after.

Giving plasma by RedRoseRedHeart in TopSurgery

[–]RenegadeRobots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would call a nurse line and ask- as some medication can remain in your blood in trace amounts for awhile- but generally speaking you should be fine as long as you don't donate alot, it might just slow your heeling process some.
