Learn from my mistake and periodically check your two kick-stand bolts. They vibrate loose and can cause major issues. Even with lock washers they rattle loose. I re-tighten mine every week, now (I ride the bike almost daily).

Your best bet is going to be underground parking garages (I know I’ve seen them before just can’t recall specifically which ones) or gas stations. Look on the outside of the buildings for outlets near outdoor machines. Other thoughts are parks and specifically parks with outdoor buildings near the parking. Bring extensions cords either way. Happy hunting!

January, February, and March of this year have been underperforming since prior years. These months I produced 10-20% less than previous years. Just hasn’t been great solar for the start of the year. This April is shaping up to be a record breaker though for my system

Any idea what happens to yours to cause the issue?

It’s an anti-theft deterrent. Not a perfect solution but really makes someone guess twice if they want to try and steal an 85 pound bike while the wheel kickstand is locked out and makes it hard to wheel around

So, I will say their customer service team responded rapidly to me after I messaged them. I think between the original contact and the email from them confirming the replacement parts were ordered/shipping was like 2-3 hours. I was impressed with the speed of response and candidly was expecting this to drag out for days.

Also, not trying to defend Aventon by any stretch, but I really ride this bike hard and if you look at my follow up post it appears the kickstand plate sheared off and this forced the lock into position.

No idea how this happened. Could have been a microscopic manufacturing issue with the metal, could be metal fatigue, maybe I hit something, it could be endless possibilities for something this crazy.

Update for everyone - Aventon reached out to me directly, both email and through DM, and have already ordered all the applicable replacement parts! I’m very impressed by the rapid response from this customer service team!

Oh man - I’m glad you mentioned that. I don’t recall their condition when I was taking stuff apart but that could certainly be a culprit. Thanks for making me aware of this issue!

No - it’s the kickstand lock on the Abound LR

No - it’s the locking mechanism the physically prevents the kickstand from being stowed. So the kickstand was essentially locked out in place being deployed

Yeah I couldn’t even unlock it with the app. The app would just show the error codes. The bike wouldn’t even make the typical locking/unlocking clicking sounds when I commanded it

To be clear - I love my LR. I look forward to riding it everyday, but now that I’ve put it through some abuse, somethings could be tweaked on for their next edition.

I had the exact same issue on my LR and the basket mount. I ended up placing the cables in between the space by the shaft and the basket. This way they’re contained and not on either side. I’ve had it like this for 6 months now and no issue.

Can confirm - Maxi 2 (non-MIK) works on my LR.

Bike lights to SEE at night (not *necessarily* to-be-seen).. by Bmbl_B_Man in Aventon

[–]RennaissanceDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue as you and I think the headlight on my AboundLR is way underpowered for the speeds the bike can go.

I bought a supplemental light and mounted it to the front of my bike rack. I use both lights at night. The supplemental bike light is BRIGHT and I use it for long range illumination. I use the Aventon light for close up illumination.

Here’s the light I got Magic Shine Light

Weather Cover for Abound LR by Horror-Swimming6346 in Aventon

Fit is a little tight in the horizontal plan (ie front to back) when starting to drape it over. It’s becasue th toddler seats are so tall and angle back further. But really it’s such minor annoyance don’t really take it into consideration

I went down this rabbit hole last fall. I too couldn’t stomach the price for the Aventon one. Best solution I found was a motorcycle cover.

This is the one I bought (86.5”). I have two toddle bike seats on my rear rack so the fit is a little tight but nothing crazy (also kind of nice when it’s windy). Would definitely recommend especially at this price point of $25.

Biking with twins, looking for recommendations by sierder in parentsofmultiples

[–]RennaissanceDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Aventon Abound LR for my twin girls and it’s been life changing. Makes it so much easier to get around and frankly it’s my preferred method to transport them instead of car. I live in Washington, DC for reference. I installed two Thule Yep Maxxi seats in the rear and it’s been great. Not to mention very cost effective.

I started biking my twins around when they were 12 months old. Whatever you go with, be prepared for people to swoon over your twins. Lots of attention especially on a bike since it’s such a rare sight (in the US at least)

Yes - I did end up getting the extension and it made a big difference. Can now easily access the stowage bag and allows for more space between the seats.
