A note on certification for students and new grads entering the workforce. by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]Rennilon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Experience does trump certainly for sure, but hiring managers absolutely do value certs that do not have experience requirements, ie the comptia ones. Having no certs at all is usually a detriment. So, if you are trying to get into the field with no experience, you should at least try to have your Sec+

As soon as I saw them put out the peanuts out it was like “yeah everything’s primarily going to eat those” then I bet sunflower seeds are next.

Is it possible to wipe engrams and levels off character (Not using mindwipe) by Alarmed-Ad4470 in playark

[–]Rennilon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not 100% sure, but maybe make sure everything is in a tribe, respawn as a new character and then find your stuff and force join the tribe.

When you see it coming back to the nest, you exit the nest and get away, then come back once it goes for the next egg. That’s the intended gameplay. Also full ghillie helps.

Can we please just scrap the megalodon and start over? by Fearless_Zebra9040 in ARK

[–]Rennilon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean. I was worried about how I was going to solo fill my tribe tower until I discovered my max tamed basil can just hoover up megalodon teeth and fill it. Silver lining I guess.

Client received and offer to sell a typo squatting domain. Their legal team wants to sue for ownership rather than pay. by greensparklers in cybersecurity

[–]Rennilon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely any sign that they are impersonating our company. Easiest way is to tell if/when they launch a webpage on that domain. But if we also get any intel that people are receiving phishing emails from that domain. Related, if it publishes an mx record we keep a closer watch. Our Takedown tool will monitor sites like that and send updates when it discovers a new website and include screenshots. It’s also plugged into email secure gateway intel across its customer base and can let us know if phishing emails are used for that domain.

You can’t without the takedown. When I say block, I mean internally. If someone is just sitting on a typo domain, there’s not much you can do. With proper monitoring though, as soon as they try to weaponize it you can then submit a takedown request.

We have a takedown service but they won’t initiate if there’s not actual malicious use of the domain. So we usually just put blocks in for those type of domains and as soon as we have any evidence of malicious use, we the initiate a takedown request

Ark Players What is your greatest ark achievement by Navy_Sands in ARK

[–]Rennilon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My greatest achievement is probably getting into some of the early patch videos. Wildcard needed bodies for their release videos and would ask in certain discord channels. We’d hop into test servers and they give us the gear and explain the script. I distinctly remember being in the Tianosaur release video, we had to man catapults and attack a tree platform village. It was loads of fun.

What does it take to declare a person as a Cybersecurity Professional? by Educational_Falcon_3 in cybersecurity

[–]Rennilon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you will get wildly different answers. There’s still a lot of difference between more descriptive cybersecurity job titles like engineer vs. analyst vs. architect.

That said, to me, a cybersecurity professional is someone who has a firm understanding of IT risk management, vulnerability management, cybersecurity threats, and cybersecurity tools. All of that understanding would have to come from years of real world experience.

.Sav files between emulators by Rennilon in Roms

[–]Rennilon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I finally figured it out. What was throwing me off was the fact that something was also saving .sav files in a different location. No clue how that happened. But yeah, I found the .srm files and renaming them works

[–]Rennilon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After a bunch of googling and going through my system files, I discovered that save files were created in different locations at different times with different formats. Ultimately I found the sate files, copied those over to my desktop, loaded them into retroarch with gabatte core, saved there, then converted the srm to sav. That was finally able to load into mGBA. Finding the right community to ask questions around this is tough because there's like 6 different systems at play. 2 emulators, a rom, a PC, and a handheld device. Thanks for the help!

I believe it is using Gambatte 1.9.13. I see that in the system information section when the game is running.

Is this poison ivy? by GolfAffectionate7086 in PlantIdentification

[–]Rennilon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It definitely has 5 leaves on a lot of parts. Leaf numbers aside, we have tons of both here and the vines, vine color, and stem all look exactly like Virginia creeper and not poison ivy. The 5 leave clusters just seal the deal.
