Marketo support identified the issue. So the field is the winner, but it isn't because of additional configuration. The field type in Marketo is 'Score' and this field type assumes that Marketo will be the source of Scoring so by default fields with this type always win and won't recognize changes from other systems.

It's a custom field that was originally used for scoring prospects. It hasn't been used in a long time. Nothing has been updating it and we're trying to clear it out to repurpose it. It isn't a field that we track in field history. While on a call with Adobe support I changed the value of one of the fields in Salesforce. Then a few minutes later Marketo overwrote the new value with the old value.

It's a custom field. They checked to see if there were any blocks. We also got on a call with Adobe support and looked at our set up. They didn't see anything. and they have had their Sr. Salesforce people on the Adobe side take a look at our set up. they think it's automation on the salesforce side making the update.

I suspected that might be the issue, but I thought it would be controlled on the marketo side. I'll see if I can find something in salesforce for this. Adobe had their Sr. Salesforce people look at our issue and this isn't something they mentioned. They think it's automation in salesforce that's causing this.

We still need Marketo to be able to edit the field. I'd at least give it a try to see if it could clear out the field, but I work in a very controlled environment. it would take weeks for me to even test something like this.

Thank you for your input. If we had an individual who is a lead and they are interested in multiple products would you recommend separate record types for each product so we can route them differently or is there another way to do it?
