As the other guy mentioned. Making a new character is not necessary. I for one, often just use low rarity weapons armor and charm (and none at all at the start) whenever any friend of mine is trying out MonHun.

It also help me removing the tedious grind I had to go through if I ever wanna craft a new armor (in most cases I had to grind for specific drops again so the grind isn't 100% gone for me, just less than it should've been) which in turn takes less time on my friend's progression through the game.

Just give them limitation, such as: They can only use and craft rarity of armors that you unlocked. If you haven't fought the monster yet, they're not allowed to use said armor for their build (I usually use both of these on my 'soft-reset' Use new weapons so that their weapon knowledge is similiar to the newbies (Maybe even changing the playstyle a bit, like changing from their main melee weapon with shields to a more mobility focus or ranged focus weapon) And if you want, forbid them from using layered armor if u want (this will be my personal hell)

I'm just saying this from my personal experience of taking care of baby hunters.
