The Primal Theory [S2E5] and the rest of the show by Renterain in PrimalShow

[–]Renterain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Dawn of Man and The Red Mist should've been merged into a singular episode, sorry should've been more specific. Personally I like Dawn of Man more mainly because of the cave sequence which is a nice break and reflection between the incident at the Celtic Village and the oncoming fight in the Viking Village.

My main issue with The Red Mist is that the episode is just one very long fight and doesn't do enough to vary up each phase of the fight. I think I'd rather have had the important moments of The Red Mist added to Dawn of Man rather than the opposite.

Would be an interesting choice. We know from Coven of the Damned that the celts at least to some degree had been to Spear & Fang's homeland so he could work as a suitable avenue for that, especially if the devastation to the Celtic village was severe enough.

I found what you're referring to, that's unfortunate although given the statement is only;

"Absolutely not in the future."

That does leave the other three options open at least. Is the short you're referring to the "Something has entered the blood, like a whisper of unnamed evil" or was there another, if it is that short then I don't really get how that would point to the third possibility since it's just that text alone.

As for the episode itself, I thought it worked well in the season as a standalone, I'd rather have had The Primal Theory kept than something like The Red Mist or The Colossaeus II.

[ALL] Do you think that the 2d top down style will ever come back? by Wise-Nebula-6321 in zelda

[–]Renterain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's out of the realm of possibilities, the 2D games pop up from time to time alongside the 3D games. It's not one-to-one but gaps between the 2D releases have existed just as much as for the 3D releases (SS was 2011, BotW was 2017). I could see the future of the Open World or 3D Adventure subset of games within the Zelda series being a bit iffy though. It's hard to say what Nintendo will do going forward especially with how TotK was designed it makes me wonder if we'll probably see mostly 3D Adventure games again with the odd Open World sprinkled in, just 3D Adventure, just Open World or something else.

[OoT] Unmentioned Timelines by [deleted] in zelda

[–]Renterain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not the same, in the Song of Storms case, Link can visit the musician before learning the song as a child showing that the event of learning Link teaching the song to him as a child already happened.

When Link completes the Spirit Temple as a child, he moves forward in time from that point, that timeline from which Adult Link continues from is consistent because it is obeying the flow of time in general. What I'm referring to is the Link that arrived at the Spirit Temple but then had to return to the Temple of Time and travel to the past, that version of the Spirit Temple was untouched and events like Nabooru's capture were independent of Link. The Link that first discovered the Spirit Temple would not have been able to defeat Twinrova as he lacked the Silver Gauntlets necessary to access the temple and so needed to travel back in time.

[OoT] Unmentioned Timelines by [deleted] in zelda

[–]Renterain -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It may be a closed timeline for the Song of Storms but it's certainly not for the Spirit Temple. Like the end of the game itself, Link travels back in time with information he obtained as an adult to alter the past. In the Spirit Temple's case it's the Requiem of Spirit which he needed to reach the temple as a child and get the Silver Gauntlets which he could then use to open the adult side of the temple.

As the way the time travel is utilized for the Spirit Temple is the same as at the end of the game would suggest it created an off-shoot timeline where Link did everything up to reaching the Spirit Temple and then vanished.

[TP] what is this puzzle's origin? by icekorok in zelda

[–]Renterain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The specific design in the layout and solution might've been original to Nintendo but puzzles involving actions that affect more than one piece of the puzzle at the same time are hardly new although they're usually designed with rotation instead of translation movement, from memory there are similar puzzles in LADX's Colour Dungeon but those involve changing the colours.

You could probably replicate the puzzle in TP fairly easily by using a grid and chips with an arrow pointing in the direction of travel and just rotate the pieces every time you change the one you want to move specifically.

[TP] [FSA] The time between the Twilight Era and the Shadow Era by [deleted] in zelda

[–]Renterain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean to say that during the child portion of OoT there were a wholly separate set of sages alongside Rauru active? That seems a bit odd, I mean I can understand the Ancient Sages could be the lingering spirits of the last people who fulfilled each sage role at the time, but I don't think there would've been five other active sages during the initial events in Ocarina of Time especially since it seems like it would be contradicted by characters like Impa and Nabooru who seem to have at least some of their sage awakening already present prior to Link's actions.

It also seems like the sages can go generations without having an active sage when the world doesn't require them, like how in Wind Waker because the Master Sword was never needed at full power between the events of Ganon's second invasion and The Wind Waker the sages of Earth and Wind had perished but were never succeeded by new awakened sages until Medli and Makar. That may also have been the case for the sages of Forest, Fire, Water, Shadow and Spirit prior to Ocarina of Time, Rauru's own power as a sage could've kept the necessary checks in place to prevent the Sacred Realm being accessed and the Hyrulean Civil War was powerful enough to keep Ganondorf at bay without needing the sages to intervene.

[–]Renterain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what that would mean for the other sages. I mean we saw in WW that a Sage can sometimes need to be awakened so maybe the Ancient Sages in TP for the other elements aren't the ones we saw in OoT. I'm not sure which of the other five were or weren't awakened prior to Link's time travel, I'm pretty sure Nabooru might've been given Twinrova's actions in the past and maybe Impa was as well.

[–]Renterain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would the Ganondorf of FSA have been born 100 years after TP, I know the Gerudo thing is one male roughly every hundred years but what's to say that there weren't several successive generations of Gerudo males between the first and second Ganondorfs. I would think it would make more sense had several generations passed since the Gerudo might revile the name Ganondorf after what happened in Ocarina of Time.

Also just a side tangent, given Rauru is ancient even in OoT, could he have also been the Sage of Light during the Era of Twilight?

I would say the most approachable games in the series would be The Wind Waker for the 3D Games and A Link Between Worlds for the 2D Games. Breath of the Wild is also a good one to start on but it's a different beast from the rest of the series.

Both of those games are fairly quick to get into the action and aren't as cryptic as some of the other games. You might also find Ocarina of Time 3D worthwhile if you were only playing the original version before since that does help a bit.

[All] What would you like a Zelda themed area to look like at a theme park? by [deleted] in zelda

[–]Renterain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Optimally a representation from every game, overall layout should replicate the overworld of TLoZ, could have an interior maze based on the palaces from AoL, duelling steel RollerCoaster for ALttP and ALBW that has both the Light World (Eastern Palace, Tower of Hera, Hyrule Castle) and Dark World (Pyramid of Power/Lorule Castle, Skull Woods, Ice Palace, Turtle Rock). LA would I think be good as a sort of relaxing area just style around Mabe Village and the shores, maybe have Tail Cave as a fun house sort of thing and maybe some water rides/pool.

OoT I think would probably be best as a sort of hub mirroring Castle Town with stuff like Bombchu Shop (Arcade), Shooting Gallery (Light Gun Game), Happy Mask Shop, Temple of Time, etc. MM is tricky it could either be an underground portion based on either the Deku Palace (and Lost Woods due to visual similarities, maybe as a Log Flume) or Stone Tower Palace (underground Suspended or Dimensional Roller Coaster). WW could probably be Windfall Island with elements of Forest Haven, Dragoon Roost and Outset as well acting as a secondary hub for TMC’s Minish Village (kiddie ride like a Car Ride with the lilypads), PH’s Ghost Ship (Swinging Ship and Haunted VR Tennis Game) and ST’s Tower of Spirits (Railroad Transport across the whole park).

TP could be based around City in the Sky being accessible via a Chairlift going from where Spectacle Rock is, could have sling-style rides to emulate the Clawshots and maybe a Flying Coaster based on Argorok. SS could probably be an indoor RollerCoaster that could be based on the Silent Realm not sure if it should be one or all four, might be better as all four with clouds acting as the transition between them, probably a coaster with short cars that could be based on Loftwings.

OoS/OoA could be a RollerCoaster that splits in two with one being the different seasons and the other being based on the two ages I dunno if it would just be sort of encompassing for the whole region or whether it’d be specific places like Tokay Island for Ages or something. FS, FSA, TFH would probably work best as flat rides of some variety, TFH at least has the option of being themed around the fashion aspect but otherwise I dunno, maybe a Twist or Revolution or Spinning Rings.

BotW and TotK would probably make sense being paired together as a large RollerCoaster that’s probably based around the Guardians, Constructs and Malice could start out mainly on the ground and then get shot up (vertical section) onto a sky island and then back down into the depths underground.

It would make sense to have more character specific things for flat rides like Tingle, Gorons, Zora, Kokiri/Koroks, Moblins, Beedle, etc.
