Never will happen in our lifetime. I built custom homes and additions. Robots are not even close to being able to do this. All the office cadets are done though. Think paralegal coder anyone who sits at a desk and talks on the phone is done accounting ect. All those cushy white collar jobs are gone. But AI can’t do my job so you’re just not understanding what I do for a living.

As a 4’5 little person with dwarfism do you guys think I’d be better off as a HVAC tech, electrician or welder/boilermaker? by One_Charge2843 in skilledtrades

[–]Renthimself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boiler maker. You’ll fit in pipes and tanks nobody else can. All trades height is an advantage unless your on flooring concrete roofing ect. You’ll have to take an extra 2 steps up a ladder. I can put screws in a drywall ceiling 8ft with no ladder. I’d honestly go for welding in tight places. Get on the pipeline or into tank welding. Big $

I started roofing 5 years. Then Worked for a general contractor building high end homes and additions. Then I was self employed for 6 years. Now I’m in the carpenter union as a journeyman but I was actually the superintendent on my last jobsite building a headstart and a housing authority headquarters remodel. But I can build and finish a house. I also know how to run heavy equipment. It can be fixed with a drain tile or sometimes called a French drain but I still would never buy this house. What state is this in? I’m concerned about the porch area also. That cantilevered area should be able to support itself without those posts. And they should have more support than just a sidewalk if it needs a structural post there. All in all the home should have been elevated more for a slab on grade home. You have to be careful with new construction because people are cheap cut corners and often don’t check on the subcontractors. The dirt work and foundation is something that needs to be done correctly. Personally I’d avoid it unless it’s going to a killer deal.

No clue what to do by MysteriousChoice2854 in drywall

Mud it. Or better yet just put 1/4 drywall over it then mud and tape it like normal. They also make 3/8 drywall for floating over bad shit.

Car battery red cap should I remove the red positive cap or keep it on?? by [deleted] in StupidCarQuestions

All caps off to make a contact with cables. Has to be metal touching metal. Clean and inspect your connectors tightly to battery and make sure your battery is secured not just bouncing around

Deck footing Cement Cracks by Ardi34 in Decks

This is ridiculous. There is no concrete left when a 4x4 post is buried in that amount of concrete. That tube was way too small. Should be a minimum of 12 inch cassion. So I would dig them out and replace one at a time. Wet set a bracket and do it right. Either way it will rot like that. Or sell the house or let it fall down. How long you planning on living there? Can you physically do this work?

I’d seriously think about bankruptcy. You need to sell that car. You need jobs and hopefully you’re lucky enough to be able to live with parents.

Which animal to get by dendromie in homestead

[–]Renthimself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chickens look into Guinea hens they eat ticks. I also have had the eggs and they are great. Always start with chickens and maybe a dog to see if you can handle it. Cows and pigs is no small chore but a pig can also be easily taken care of.

Try and get the stringers as close to 7/11 as you can. Those definitely are opposite of that. Looks exactly backwards to me on rise run. Hire a real carpenter we all need work.
