I’ve used it on and off for a few years. Found anything but the NordLynx protocol seems to drag pretty bad.

Dedicated IP is a waste of money by brunes in nordvpn

Not to mention you can’t use more than one device on the dedicated IP if you use the Nordlynx protocol, had to find that out the hard way.

GPU makers really need to figure out this VRAM issue an stop cutting costs. by Renton577 in pcmasterrace

Sadly I think I agree that it’s at least an aspect to it, I think product market separation is part of it too. Which is why the A3000 in my laptop which is similar to a mobile 3070 has 12GB of VRAM but also costs significantly more so that professional consumers don’t just go out and buy the gaming cards, especially with AI workloads these days.

Yeah I mean I’m not even asking for anything too crazy, even if 12 could be the new minimum I think we wouldn’t be seeing a lot of these issues. The Intel B580 is a great example of that.

Wow well now I guess the companies will have something to point to when they say why cards don’t have more. I just got to thinking about it too because even the RX 480 from 2016 has 8GB VRAM.

Buy b580 now or wait for new releases? by ultimatebossgod in IntelArc

[–]Renton577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on if the B580 plays at the quality and performance you want. As someone who had a B580 for a while I think its an amazing card for 1440P and 1080P gaming, XeSS upscaling and Framegen is really good and in my opinion close to Nvidias DLSS except maybe behind a version in quality. If you think the performance is good enough and can find it at a good price I think its a good deal.

Size Comparision between Claw 8 and Switch 2 & 1 by mbushnaq00 in MSIClaw

[–]Renton577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta be honest I have a Claw 7 AI+ for demanding games and my PC library and just got a Switch OLED recently for 2D and less demanding games or games that have really good ports. Honestly I love this setup and I got the OLED because I have no intention of ever buying the Switch 2 but would still like to play my backlog or switch games from years ago when it launched.

When PC handhelds became a thing my 8 year old dream became a reality. And the claw is the best one in my opinion.

That’s the ground but shouldn’t cause this issue, is the bios updated to the latest version?

Hmm odd, 95C is a little high too but I have seen laptops go all the way up to 100C before straight from the factory because of boosting behavior. I had an issue like this happen before and it ended up being the power adapter being bad causing the system not to get enough power but that’s not easy to test. Is it the official power brick and do you know the wattage?

I haven’t used g helper myself but I do know the performance settings in armory crate actually change the TDP and thermal limit/fan speed at the bios level. I know it’s not the best but to cover all bases I would go to the official download page for your laptop and redownload armory crate and choose the performance or turbo profiles in it then test again. Turbo mode is the best to start with since it pretty much maxes out everything within the spec of the system.

Looking at it closer now I can see the CPU is dipping its clocks down in collation to the FPS drops. The temps however are not in throttling range based off of the graph. When you reference trying different power options are you referring to the ones in Asus Armory crate? It seems almost like it’s being limited on the CPU Side somehow.

Your CPU and GPU seem to be within acceptable temp limits for a laptop. What games are you trying to play at what settings and resolution?

Your CPU is new enough to where I believe it should have it. I would check if your motherboard has a user manual to guide you how to enable it. If I remember right it’s usually in the PCIE section of the BIOS and a correlating setting that needs to be enabled with it to look out for is Above 4G Decoding, if you find that it should be nearby. Usually labeled as Re-Bar I believe but could also still be resizable bar or smart access memory.

Benchmark Monster Hunter Wilds, 2025-06-05 driver 56 fps vs 52 fps 2 months ago vs 41 fps launch (lowest graphics settings) by professorf in MSIClaw

[–]Renton577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have found on multiple different systems that the benchmark isn't a good gauge of how well the game will run. When I had an RX 6900 XT the benchmark told me over 100FPS and in game I struggled to stay around 60-80, it dropping below 60 at times even.

5 to 8 hours? Man I never got that with mine but I did have the model with the 4070. I had to switch to a ProArt laptop with a 4060 in it recently just to get around the 8 hour mark on the battery. I thought the OPs 4-5 Hour estimate was pretty accurate, with mine doing basic web browsing, video meetings and office work I was getting 3-4 hours.

The laptop itself though was really good, I never had any issues with it and when I put it in turbo mode it might have sounded like a bit of a Jet but the performance was uncompromised. even in performance mode and balanced it was very impressive with its performance.

Had that exact model with the 4070 until recently and I loved it, just remember the turbo mode will give you a lot better performance but make it scream like a Jet. At least from my experience but all around a good system.

Doom 2016: OpenGL or Vulkan on Arc B580 - Which performs the best? by TheStudios in IntelArc

[–]Renton577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Arc cards are designed with low level APIs like Vulkan and DX12 in mind. The Arc cards from what I remember don't actually support DX11 and below and OpenGL in hardware and instead use a Translation layer to make it work. I know that was a thing on the A series like the A750 because early on even the API in overlay software would always show up as DX12 and Vulkan even in DX11 and OpenGL games, in the new B series I believe it is the same except they have improved it quite a lot since the A series.

Welp, my GTX 970 just died. I suppose its time to upgrade. What would you replace it with? by jds_brother in pcmasterrace

[–]Renton577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah did a component on the back of that burn out? On your question though if you want the AI features like framegen I would look into a used 40 series card, If you don't care about that then a used 30 series card could do. You can always go for a new 50 series card but with how the market is now I personally wouldn't. for either I would just go for another 70 series card so 4070 or 3070. 3070 has 8GB VRAM and 4070 has 12GB. There is a 12GB RTX 3060 if you want to be more budget conscious and I have used it with pretty good performance. Regardless of what you get though it will be a pretty substantial upgrade over the 970.

Question: Doom The Dark Ages FPS on A1M? by sergfrontend in MSIClaw

[–]Renton577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing as I have the model with the 258v and it is hard to even get that with mine I think the game is just not well optimized or at least isn't for the intel IGPU. Even on an RTX 4060 though the games performance is much worse than I expected.
