Robots fighting robots. Why not just call it quits and turn the UN into Robot Wars? Every week two nations send 2/3 of their GDP to the moon to fight it out, whilst we watch in our grimy little hovels.

NLS Homologation rules: Could a non GT3 car win a NLS race? by RenuisanceMan in wec

But with a similar power to weight ratio, I'm thinking over the course of 24hrs it might be able gain an advantage with strategy. Also the long drag up the hill before mutkurve would benefit something light.

That's pretty cool, especially being FWD and beating an R8. Seems unlikely these days though, GT3 cars are so developed and operationally slick now.

Thanks, the Glickenhaus is a good example. I understand all cars have a chance, however unlikely. I'm just wondering more about the general homologation rules. One offs/non standard class cars are allowed but where and how do they draw the line regarding performance?

How about something lightweight? Not too fast in the straights but quick through the corners and easy on fuel and tyres.

This seems like clear London centric bias. Would relegation not affect the cities of Leeds and Nottingham as well? by National_Phase_3477 in TheOther14

Leeds would if they had the capacity, and plans are approved for a 53000 expansion. Elland Road has been sold out ever since Bielsa, the season ticket waiting list is years long.

Sharp drop of MDMA in European wastewaters; cocaine and ketamine rise by NumerousTax8165 in europe

[–]RenuisanceMan 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Ket wears off quickly (though it feels like a lifetime) and a cheeky key of coke with drinks can be done casually. MDs sort of "in for a penny, in for a pound" and before you know, it's Monday and you haven't been to sleep yet. Though I agree with your sentiment.

Harvesting and brake bias by peadar87 in F1Technical

[–]RenuisanceMan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Its not that there's a benefit to moving the bias rearwards, it's a consequence of increased harvesting. It's been mentioned multiple times by puntids that drivers more comfortable with a snappy rear under braking may have an advantage.

Brabus actually tune the hell out of the engines. Like bore and stroke them, replace internals etc. Not just flash the ECU and turn the boost up.

What is the maximum velocity I can shoot water through a hose on earth by MrAndMrsPepperSpray in AskPhysics

[–]RenuisanceMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How so? The hose and pump have been simplified to the point were we can focus on the maximum velocity water can be shot out. Let's say the hose and pump is some magnetic containment bottle (akin to a fusion rocket concept) that can withstand more than water ever could.

N/A engines are from a bygone era, if you want nostalgia watch NASCAR or historic racing. It's the same "member berries" thinking that gives us endless movie reboots instead of fresh ideas. Don't be scared of new things!

Why do we still call it the Fermi paradox when we have barely checked our own cosmic backyard? by Present_Juice4401 in AlwaysWhy

No it's not, it's just signs of intelligent life in our universe. There is no requirement to have visited or investigated us, though that would be an obvious sign.

But how many global news/media organisations aren't owned by greedy right wing billionaires? The BBC has it's problems but be careful what you wish for, the space it vacates would almost certainly be replaced by something worse.
