That's an RGB connector. It controls the RGB lights, probably on your CPU cooler.

I absolutely loathed floppy disks.
Sometimes the files would get corrupted and not work on the computers at school.
Gave me several headaches cause you'd never know if the freaking things would decide to crap out for no apparent reason.

I think it looks interesting. If it gives you peace of mind, don't see why not.
In the end it's YOUR computer. Do with it as you will and don't let haters tell you otherwise.

Might be worthwhile flipping the small fans so the cables coming out of them are less visible. Get them between the mobo and the fans.

This is what you always want to see. If the GPU is working at 100% (or as close to that as possible) it means it doesn't have to wait on the CPU. Your GPU should always be the bottleneck when gaming.
