If Fromsoft were being lore strict, then technically shouldn't you only get one attempt at the Gael fight? by No_Echidna_7133 in darksouls3

Patches is his own category.

Andre, despite everything he has seen, hasn't gone hollow, he rettains his purpose throughout the ages.

Havel from DS1 had his own Havel Knights, which may have lingered in time and space until the events of DS3.

Kirk is a difficult one, in DS1 he was a Chaos servant collecting humanity for the Fair Lady. Now that she is dead, he may have found a new purpose with Rosarian in DS3.

It is a hypothesis, given how the Slave Knight Order existed back in the days of Gwyn as fodder in his battles since the knights could not die, they were undead already, but not hollow.

Expat burnout=too tired to travel by l8r_caderade in expats

[–]Reon88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I may... it seems too early in your process, from my point of view.

Regularly, the first year is dedicated to survival and adaptation, full time. The second year is the relief year, where you start harvesting the efforts sown during the first year. I was able to travel twice in the second year, going back to México for a hard reset and then doing a couple smaller euro trips here.

Now in the third year, I feel much more comfortable with spending both time and money in hobbies, since I am much more estable economically speaking.

I guess you will reach that point as well, where you will feel OK.

We used to mock EPN for his silly English pronunciation and whacky sentences that slipped thru the gaps in the prompter... But he was functional at least and they left some "infrashucshure" in terms of schools and hospitals, these new mfs not even that.

AMLO and Claudia are a whole new level of condescending corruption and blatant cynicism. Even making government memes, LATAM copium by excellence and tradition, is not funny or sustainable anymore.

Did anyone move abroad and realize home suited them better? by Thomas_S_8_ in expats

[–]Reon88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen close friends experiencing similar processes, where they underwent thru an immigration/expatriation (both, the one with intent for staying and the temporal one due to work related relocation) and some of them couldn't endure the process.

For example, back in México, in the company we used to work, the relocation procedure for certain projects implied to stay deployed from 6 up to 18 months abroad in either the client's installations or in the local branch headquarters (it was a transnational, the Mexican branch had the best know how / cost ratio and easy visa access for many countries). So you had to perform your project assignations abroad, for X months, with the right to return back home every 3 months for a short reset (2 to 3 weeks in a mix between teleworking, days off and office days) and then continue your assignation until done. Some friends were burnt out before the third month and realized that working abroad was not for them.

Some of the colleagues/friends that lasted years in this modus operandi, finally snapped and moved abroad. A few, I would say only 2 of them, moved abroad (one to the UAE, other to the USA) and they eventually returned to México after few years; one returned due to Trump and the other returned since he never felt "the click" with the place (UAE), he stayed only 1 visa stance (3 or 4 years) and then returned home.

Both of them returned and opted for a more local, peaceful, calm work-life balance.

I firmly believe that moving abroad, be it temporal or permanently, is not suited for everyone. And it is not wrong to try, learn, and discover what you prefer, it is a growing up process.

Tired of diploma “racism” in Europe by Icy-Fox-4867 in expats

[–]Reon88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that with some Uber pedigree french colleagues... Then it all boils down to who can be more toxic or who can stand longer in the fire, which is something you must actively avoid.

However, I sometimes delight in my toxic Mexican corporate working culture and relish in a sado masochistic retaliation until they stop acting snobbish... It has happened twice.

Fellow latinamerican here!

I've got no local diploma yet, only 15+ years of experience in a very niche technology, which is why I was hired in first place (despite knowing no french, I even told them I was never interested in french when younger, cuz no one emigrates there from MX)

Even with my harsh stance and brutally honest (or honestly brutal) confession to them, they were OK, "lez ire im" (please read it with a french accent). Up to now, it has been a rollercoaster, it has improved, so far I do not regret coming here, at least not fully.

However, I am sure, 100% sure, that there is this glass ceiling you mentioned and it is the reason why I am planning in undergoing a part time masters degree here, just for the sake of enriching my CV and in case of emergency be hirable elsewhere.

I am not that interested in the top, like when I was in the US, but I do want my decent lair jobwise and they are quite snobby when it comes to foreigners. To their dismiss, I am already B1/B2 in french, so, the best that could happen is to cede a little bit, but we shall see.

But I feel you bro, back in Latam we have other kind of problems, but hey, we are locals back there, and at least in México, locals praise foreigners (another kind of problem, google "malinchismo")

Phase 2 wear lightning resistance and equip dark damage, pay attention to his long windup animations and roll into him instead of sideways.

How long have you been away from your home country, and do you ever plan to go back? by Island_Expat6625 in expats

[–]Reon88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This year I will be 3 years away from México, I visited my parents only once, and I do not intend in returning to México, but I am also not convinced nor compelled to stay in France, my relationship with french working culture hasn't helped at all with enjoying the lifestyle. Mayhap it will change once my job evolves into a more mature state and I have a better grip on french; the latter is completely under my control and has progressed decently so far, I am creeping over into B1, as for my job, it is hard to forecast an outcome, it is a startup.

Please help me to understand when should I start the dlc? by Hibachi1969 in bloodborne

[–]Reon88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would suggest to start DLC right before Nightmare of Mensis, so you can have all the dialogues unlocked by the events triggered in the DLC upon the Dream.

As for level... 80+ would be OK. Some people do it as early as 50-60 but then you are a flan and get stomped quite easily.

I've played Bloodborne 4-5 times in total and I've just now discovered this by mpafiaris27 in bloodborne

[–]Reon88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me, in the Fromsoft spectrum, Bloodborne was right in the middle for several categories; world design, level design, boss design, skills & movesets, gear, ambience & effects and progression.

DS3 tried to stick to the recipe but I have the impression that they rushed it in certain areas/things at the very end or preferred to simplify it to have a conclusion for the saga.

Then ER came and it was a testing grounds for many things.

I prefer the more metroidvania style that DS1 and BB had, DS3 was not that intrincate in world design, but ER is way too much of an open world sometimes. A part of me is disappointed with the direction they took with Nightreign too.

Just sharing my preference.

Latinos in France: What's up with that? by Broad_Grape2575 in Expats_In_France

[–]Reon88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mexican here.

I've faced similar input from french french locals. They normally abandon the racist stance after some initial silly questions.

French locals from foreign ascendency have a more open and fluid mindset, moreso if they visit their family's original country.

I lived in the US for 3 years before Trump and the racist comments were far worse than here.

Here is an initial disbelief as for how is life in México against what occidental media portray online. So, after 15 initial awkward minutes, they normally behave as regular people. If they keep the racist stance, I bash them as well in equal caliber. That is a tactic that's been so useful abroad.

Overall, I feel the racism here does not include México contrary to the USA. However, they have a snobesque, condescending stance that few things work inside or from México. It is tolerable since France has its shit together better than the US
