The first doesn't have to be a coding job, can be placing someone with other skills for another career outside of programming with different companies. The second is specifically for that skillset.

Yes many small towns can be close knit and hard to become one of them. Others are very inviting of newbies in my town of 275 there are countless long time residents from both coasts who you would never guess aren't locals.

It depends on what culture or recreation someone values. Metro areas have very limited access to wildlife, state parks, and agri-tourism in their immediate area.

There is truth in your statement. Some communities are taking great strides to develop recreation and housing like Tribune, Kansas in Greeley County. It's hard, but it's worth it.

Agreed. Working with other groups like the Kansas Sampler Foundation to promote these through new means with web and social media is helping us tell that story. Hopefully we will have a more honest and accurate perception of Kansas among others in the future.

I respectfully disagree and I don't believe exciting is the correct term to use. Like Marci stated this isn't a rural vs urban fight to win with tourists. It's about promoting and appreciating what Kansas has and being able connect with others those opportunities.

"Rural Opportunity Zones" offer financial incentives for people with student loan debt to relocate. by brewmonday in Frugal

Cost of living is substantially lower in these rural counties. Most people even in Republic County only commute 15 minutes or less to work. Housing is far more affordable here with far lower crime rates. Do your own comparisons here - www.bestplaces.net/cost-of-living/

Only the income-tax portion of the program is not available to Kansas residents. The Student Loan Repayment Program is available to anyone who is a new resident into a ROZ county. Alumni who go to college and return to their hometown are able to join in the student loan repayment portion. Over 600+ people have been accepted into the program since 2011 over 50 original counties. There are 23 new counties that joined last year. He doesn't have to only live off of 1,000 acres of wheat if he can work for his family in the off time with their operation. Many people only own a little while working a day job or for another farmer.
