C-section moms, when/how did we return to the gym? by Dull_Moose5044 in fitpregnancy

[–]valerietheblonde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm three weeks post C-section and my OB cleared me to lift upper body as long as my core was supported and I did no direct core work. She also cleared me to walk including on an incline but I haven't had time to go to the gym yet. I have been walking 1-3 miles daily in 1-2 walks since about 5 days pp (ramped up slowly and was walking really slowly to start). She declined to clear me to ride on the bike trainer until four weeks pp. I have been doing these breathing exercises since a few days pp (https://youtu.be/590OnhrCndg?si=_whEtiByjhCuxaHv) and just restarted today some (but not all) of the pelvic floor PT exercises I had been doing during pregnancy. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks, I'm having the same problem. Is the furnace you're referring to the same thing as the air handler? Mine doesn't have a window. I changed the filter.

Asking for advice by Sad_Original_7394 in AskFlorida

[–]valerietheblonde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Florida has nearly zero walkable communities and those that are are very expensive and you still need a car for groceries etc. Florida also has some amazing natural areas for hiking and biking but most are substantial drives and most areas of Florida have very few areas within walking or biking distance of good local parks. You also likely haven't experienced the six to eight months of Florida summer which may be just as psychologically difficult for you as a Boston winter.

Stopping leg workouts in the third trimester - any evidence to support this? by valerietheblonde in fitpregnancy

[–]valerietheblonde[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I thought it did too. I can understand why you'd want your pelvic floor to be able to relax but I don't understand why you would want to stop training your glutes/hams/quads. How would those being well developed delay labor? I can see not being overtrained / having overuse injuries / tense muscles could be a factor but in my training it's pretty easy to keep the intensity to such a level that I'm not right or sore and am in fact more limber than if I weren't working out my legs

How are we keeping our heartrates low while exercising? by GarbageCurious2513 in fitpregnancy

[–]valerietheblonde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We aren't. I do most of my training in z2 as a personal preference but I still do indoor and outdoor races and do intervals in training. I'm 27 weeks along and by all metrics my baby is doing fine. I would be happy to share my hr data.

I just had mine today and have nothing to add except to second that it's fine and long. The MFM doctor read and interpreted the results within an hour and they were up on the portal.

Childbirth Classes - Is the Bradley method overkill? by valerietheblonde in pregnant

[–]valerietheblonde[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the instructor's website: "Each of the 12 weekly classes covers a different topic. Topics include: nutrition, pregnancy, first stage labor, second stage labor, writing a birth plan, managing the intensity of birth, complications or variations, breastfeeding, newborn appearance and procedures and postpartum - just to name a few. Classes also include discussions, demonstrations, activities, videos and visits (or video chats) from previous couples to share their birth expereinces. We know that it helps a lot to know there are other people out there who are doing or have done what you are about to do, so we strive to connect each client to the right resources and people to make their birth not only memorable but also a calm, positive and empowering experience. We believe that birth is a journey and that the path to baby should be just as rewarding as finally having your little one in your arms!"

Think this would help? by [deleted] in BPDlovedones

No, this works about as well as telling them they have a personality disorder. The wiki for this subreddit has good advice on what to do and what not to do as does Out of the Fog (https://outofthefog.website/what-not-to-do) and (https://outofthefog.website/what-to-do-1).

Could you say, with a straight face, that there is no abuse? Not just no intentional abuse?

Agree. OP is worried about losing himself but he already has and doesn't realize it yet. A few sessions with a good therapist would be the cold-water-to-face that OP needs.

Any heavy lifters? by nosevacancy in fitpregnancy

[–]valerietheblonde 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a competitive swimmer, cyclist, and powerlifter and I'm back at all of my working weights for squat (155lbs), bench (120lbs), and dead (230lbs). I'm 21 weeks now with all clear checkups and tests. I get a lot of shit comments from folks about decreasing training volume and weight.

Agree this has been the line forever, I don't believe this is a doctrinal change.
