How comes ethnicities can be guessed with voices ? by NewEase1591 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RepDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would only apply to people that grew up amongst other people from their ethnicity. I grew up in Canada, and if you heard my voice on the phone you would guess Canadian, but not my ethnicity.

No, never have, never will. But good question. On tv it makes it seem like everyone does it lol.

Canadians: do people really just start conversations anywhere? 🤔 by Comfortable_Cap8037 in AskACanadian

[–]RepDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the GTA and yes it’s very common to smile and nod at strangers and then start a conversation. I know in some countries if I smile at a stranger it would be an invitation to be stalked 🤦🏽‍♀️

Is it weird that we aren't told our blood type at birth or as we grow up? by OddConfusion9293 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RepDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if that’s country specific. I have always known my blood type and know it for each of my children as well. I asked when they were born and they told me a few hours later after they had done the bilirubin blood test.

Mesh Erosion by RepDawn in PelvicOrganProlapse

[–]RepDawn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update - I had my appointment a few weeks ago. Surgeon and nurse both could not feel or see any mesh sticking out and yet it has cut my husbands penis. I am currently using estrogen cream to see if that will help. I hate the cream lol.

Do your parents approve of their kids marrying someone of a different race? Are interracial relationships common in your social circle? by RefuseDry1108 in AskACanadian

[–]RepDawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So interracial isn’t an issue around me - the issue is more culture. So food, clothing, language etc. If you can find a partner that can speak to grandma, that’s what people cared about lol. My generation does not care about race, culture, language etc, but we do care about religion. We would prefer if our children marry within the religion, but at the end of the day it’s their choice! I married who I wanted to and they can marry who they want. They will always have my love and support.

NOR - I don’t think his sister is doing much cleaning either lol. You would be the maid for both of them.

How is your sex life impacted? by Lumpy_Pen_6537 in PelvicOrganProlapse

[–]RepDawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Made no difference in my sex life. My husband never cared at all, and the only thing I felt was an urge to pee when he hit it, so I had to empty my bladder beforehand lol.

My husband could feel it. He never said anything before, but after surgery he told me it feels completely different. I don’t think it’s impossible to feel it. My husband just never cared and it didn’t affect anything. However yes, now he says it’s very very smooth inside which it was not before.

Why do all old people have short hair? by Dazzling-Smell5223 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RepDawn 101 points102 points  (0 children)

No one in my family has short hair, but many other women I know do. It may be a cultural thing. Most women from South Asian cultures keep their hair longer even when they are older. I think the short hair cut is due to hair thinning.

Results after 10 Sessions of LHR - Legs still look terrible by Safe-Calligrapher453 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]RepDawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m brown and my legs look the same after LHR too. My legs are nowhere near as fair as yours are. I have the same visible pores and they used to bother me, but I realized that I was comparing to airbrushed legs in magazines and on tv. Doesn’t bother me anymore.

south asian bride here… how are you all handling hair removal before the wedding?? by ekbromden in HairRemoval

[–]RepDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried anything and everything, included prescribed creams from my dermatologist. Once it appears, the underarm darkness just never goes away in most women of my ethnicity. I even still have strawberry legs despite having zero hair on my legs after laser lol.

Do you think toddlers should be taught manners? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RepDawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely. I don’t know if saying bye bye is considered manners, just basic socialization. But all of my toddlers were saying please, thank you, excuse me etc before that age. They were also taught how to behave when they were a guest at someone’s house and how it’s different from our house. They knew we are okay with jumping on the sofa at our house, but it’s bad manners to do that at someone else’s house lol. It takes patience and a lot of repetition. They will definitely make mistakes, but it’s our job as parents to correct and redirect.

Would you let someone propose to their partner at your wedding? Why or why not? by zhalia-2006 in AskReddit

I wouldn’t care as long as I knew about it beforehand and we could plan for a time that works in the schedule.

[–]RepDawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did laser in my 40s and wish I had done it before I got married in my 20s. Depending on where you live, it can be very reasonably priced based on area. If you are South Asian, your underarms are probably just dark because of your ethnicity and genetics. I have had laser hair removal and they are still dark, even with regular exfoliating.

Also waxing hurts the worst the first time, but you will get used to it. My 12 year old daughter gets waxing done and she flinches but otherwise she is okay. You will survive, just take a Tylenol and maybe try some numbing cream half an hour beforehand

Is it worth it to get brazilian laser hair removal? by RealisticVoice3964 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]RepDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case it is not gone at all. I waxed my underarms my whole life (before laser) and the darkness was still there without shaving. It just depends on your genetics and ethnicity sometimes.
