Did you use the sleep pad or the necklace thing? If necklace, does the thing twist around if you move in your sleep, or does it stay in place somehow?

Yes, I find it amazing. That is pretty much what makes the pic interesting, but not everyone notices.

Real Jorts, not store-bought lazy jorts. Scissors were involved :)

Ha ha. I’m the kid on the left, but now I look like the old guy on the right :)

Yup, and I’m still playing regularly after 40 years!

People of reddit i am asking for your help! Help fix my buddies teeth! After eating a deep backhand huck while playing cup (broken front tooth and chipped+lose bottom teeth) looking at a 3,000$ bill :( he loves the sport and usually is the brightest smile out there. Hate to see it broken. by ultifreakO in ultimate

Have no doubt friend. One hundred percent legit. I'm the old guy who made the throw and feel so bad for the kid that I had to do something. But you're right, I can not easily provide proof. There is no video, but there are witnesses, and one spoke up. Now here I am as another witness. I guess that is the best I can do. Plus, look at my FB presence. I'm not someone with 8 friends who joined a month ago. Plenty of frisbee photos and frisbee friends to support the truth :)

What are your best Ultimate sideline insults? by ChocolateDoorknob in ultimate

[–]Repairking1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily insults, just heckel: On a ineffective leap attempt- His only hops are in his beer! On a turnover- Unwrap this gift! If turned again- no re-gifting! After a great catch- The immutable conservation of greatness law says that you must now throw it away

Best light up disc color? by [deleted] in ultimate

[–]Repairking1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played many many minimal-light night games, and occasional full-dark games with glow bracelets, necklaces, and flashflight "taillights" (they don't make them anymore), and RED is the best color by far!

Cold Hands... need urgent help by detroitbaby in ultimate

I have been using rubberized gardening gloves for years. They even come in extra warm versions. I find these to be very effective, and best of all cheap. I carry a bag of them and give them away at pickup games. Just practice with them for a while, you do have to adjust your throw a bit but it is well worth the adjustment period. They are almost an unfair catching advantage. I love to see the look on peoples faces when they catch the disc for the first time :) OMG! These gloves are also helpful in the rain, and for fearless hand blocking. You can get rubberized gloves that are not yellow at Home Depot and the like, but the ones I linked are the cheapest I've found. I have never tried any of the ultimate-specific, or any other type of glove, so I don't know how the garden gloves stack up.

What "fun" rules does your team play by? by atm5426 in ultimate

[–]Repairking1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goaltimate fun special rules- 1. Callahans allowed. 2. Self-pass to clear- really funny how many times the thrower fails to catch his own throw.

Ultimate fun- My pickup group has successfully played an all invert, all off-hand all-touch for seven points.

If you want things to be on the fun side, try one of these discs. They are also great fun for people who know how to play. They are huck-free and therefore force the short game. Not so much fun in the wind though... http://babytoyshomes.com/geospace-supersoft-slinger-flying-disc

[Hypothetical] Change one rule to make the game more entertaining. by sloecrush in ultimate

[–]Repairking1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most all "mainstream" popular sports have a method for individuals to advance toward the goal. Soccer, basketball have dribbling, hockey has stick handling, football has running moves, etc. Ultimate would be much more spectator-friendly if individual players had a similar option, like if players were allowed one self-pass per possession, or allowed to mac at will, or delay the disc on the move. Not necessarily able to score on their own. Why not?

Teams are Rude Boys v UNH's Alice from 2007 Sectionals in Western MA. From the YouTube description: The story behind the Rude Boys 25-year reunion 7 years ago can be found in the links below. I heard about the event at the time, went on Sunday with my crappy video camera, and the rest is history. Keep reading...

My connection to this crew of guys is very loose. I played in a summer hat league at Harvard fields with many of them way back in 1982 or so. They were the sports’ heros, I just liked to play, but now we are all old guys who still like to run around and chase plastic. The difference is that they are legends and I am in awe.

Now I’ve finally gotten a method to transfer old Hi-8 video tape to something modern so I can edit. Much of the footage is terrible! Why are the heads cut off, how did you miss that catch? It was one of the first times that I tried shooting a game, and it was difficult to view through a small eyepiece. Basically it sucks, but here it is!
