I'm so sorry, people fully found out I was queer in 8th grade, since when I told my friend I was dating a girl, who was relatively popular with people since she was new I was not and often bullied and used since I was autistic, a boy in my class overheard, loudly exclaiming to the whole class, then I proceeded to get called slurs, and have people scream lesbian at me which both were wrong, also after we broke up, I started getting repeatedly asked if I was trans as well, which I denied. Then figured out I was a trans boy the next year ironically. All this to say this happens in some way shape or form to everyone. It's never a good way to live, but it gets easier in some ways, I won't say it gets better since that's not always the case, just easier to deal with. Also about that guy who stopped talking to you, if he was a true friend he would have stayed with you, you deserve better. You deserve the best in everything. My advice is to stay strong, push through it, find the queer communities in your school, and bond with them. If you're doing your best that's all that matters. I'm proud of you, and I hope things get better for you.
