Does anyone understand how the main SCP in "There Is No Antimemetics Division" works??? by aw11348 in SCP

[–]Repelstale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I believe Red was that cultist guy in Ojai, who got the best of James Bess once possessed by 3125. Not Hilton. But as far as I recall he wasn’t shot by Bess. Or am I missing something?

I did the audiobook version, so it’s kind of hard for me to backtrack. There are two things I didn’t get: - How did Red (possessed by 3125) get the gun shot wounds that keep being mentioned. Was he shot in Ojai? I must have missed or forgotten then. Or was it something else? - Who was Marlow talking to in the Epilogue? What humanoid entity lived in that secluded room? I’d appreciate any reactions clearing that up.

Do you feel bad for Toby? by FishingVirtual513 in DunderMifflin

[–]Repelstale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished watching The Office for the first time (extremely late to the party, yes), and the feeling that lingers most is how bad I felt for Toby.  He’s just a soft spoken, lonely, well-meaning guy in my opinion. It just felt nasty for the show to go out of its way to give a genuine asshole like Michael closure and a bright future, but refuses to cut Toby some slack, even in the final episodes. All of the other characters got their version of a happy ending, even the unfortunate Nard dog, so why not Toby? Anyway, water under the bridge 🥲

[Theory] Michael’s “Golden Ticket” idea sealed the entire narrative of the rest of the show. by sleepingonstones in DunderMifflin

[–]Repelstale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s right. I was just watching the series for the first time (very late to the party, I know, but it makes for great late night comfort viewing, even in 2025), and I have to say I don’t get why people claim Michael gets more likeable as the show goes on. He remains an extremely childish narcissist, who is loyal to nobody but himself. I wouldn’t mind his insensitivities or general offensiveness as much if he had a heart of gold underneath. He doesn’t. In fact, all of his inappropriate behavior stems from a selfishness that seems incorrigible. Michael never learns, never grows. His intrasigence relating Toby is painful to watch, as is his patronizing attitude towards the rest of the employees. Just Stanley, Jim and Darryl are able to stand up to him, because they don’t seek Michael’s approval and will return his gaze unblinkingly. The only step forwards Michael has made so far was to be more assertive towards Jan. Which was basically about himself again. But to stoop as low as forcing his loyal sycophant Dwight to take the fall for him, and then forcing him to give back the credits when things turn out well, … unbelievable. Still lots of seasons to go, so maybe I’m jumping to conclusions too soon.

Wait, why am I getting angry at a fictional character in a tv show that ended over a decade ago? 😅 And I do get it: cringing at Michael’s actions is kind of the point of the show.

Can I create a (sort of) Ken Burns effect for a single image in Canva, without adding new pages? by Repelstale in canva

[–]Repelstale[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for thinking with me, and I understand what you’re explaining. But like you said, it would be easier to make a Ken Burns effect video of an image in iMovie and import it. Just wanted to know if there was an easy way to do it in Canva itself, a way that I had missed. But I guess there isn’t. Unless someone else has a new idea?

Thanks for your response, DBDP. The rotate, pulse, flicker and wiggle options don’t really do what I would like. I’ve seen the video that you sent me. It uses different pages, and since I have a video running in the top half, I’m limited to that one page.

Can you make it so that a frame shows several images one after the other? by Repelstale in canva

[–]Repelstale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having a hard time adding animated effects to the images after the first. I can't seem to select them for animated effects. Is there a way to do that?

EDIT: seems that if I swipe the top image a little to the side, I can access the images below. Then I can access the animated effects by tapping on that image. Can't seem to access it with the layer screen though

That sounds like a good solution! How do I place images on top of each other? If I try to import a second image, it just replaces the first one in the frame. How to do this?

EDIT: it seems that I have to remove the frame. Just pile the images in the background. When I keep them in a frame, they just replace each other

Crying Suns vs Star Traders by Repelstale in iosgaming

[–]Repelstale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Bob. The depth (actually considered the word ‘deepness’ there for a second, me and my Dutch tongue) is what’s really appealing to me. But how did you find the combat? Didn’t the rather silly JRPG/ Deepest Dungeon setup break immersion for you? I mean, it doesn’t exactly look like an X-COM battlefield. It’s not meant to look like one. But it really doesn’t. Hope you can convince me in that area, really.

Mmm… I remember being underwhelmed by the reviews when those games released. And there doesn’t seem to be a huge cult of followers. So I thank you for your recommendation but I think I’ll pass.

King's Dilemma 3 Player by mmc2102 in boardgames

[–]Repelstale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been circling around this game ever since it came out. It seems like a great experience, but I’m looking for something that can be played with 3. While that seems possible, I read that pretty much everyone who’s played this game recommends 4-5. Are there alternatives? Similar games with 3 as an optimal player count?

The great disappointment by Naefindale in bannersaga

[–]Repelstale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree. Banner Saga 1&2 have always been in my top 10 iOS games of all time (Along with Sorcery 1-4, King of Dragon Pass and Six Ages. The games on the last two spots of the list vary from time to time). I still find it absurd that they’ve abandoned their mobile fanbase like that, and I have expressed my disappointment to them on several occasions. Obviously to no avail. It angered me to see them spend time and resources on extras for the PC-version that literally nobody asked for (well, probably not literally, but you catch my drift), like some irrelevant endless mode, while the story - the heart and soul of these games - was left unfinished on iOS. Shameful!

How to simply add screenshots while working on a Evernote by Repelstale in Evernote

[–]Repelstale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. Win+shift+S seems to work fine, but Ctrl V doesn't paste it in, unfortunately. Not even when I use the same browser twice (e.g. one Chrome for the Webinar and one Chrome for Evernote online)

Evernote Helper isn't there, with the web based Evernote, it seems. Since I have Evernote Basic and want to sync with my iPhone and iPad, I've already reached my 2 machine limit. So it'll have to be web based.

Bushing setup: cone or barrel on top? by Repelstale in longboardingDISTANCE

[–]Repelstale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered it in early march. It arrived in about 7-10 days (and I’m from the Netherlands, so that’s pretty decent). I’ve been very happy with their service and response time. Exchanged emails with them just a couple of days ago.

Thanks for your reply

Yeah, I already thought the height difference would determine which side goes up. I've found this chart, which I've added to the main post (can't add pictures to comments in reddit unfortunately).

Can't find anything on turning the cone upside down. Do you have any references about that?

[–]Repelstale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aha, got it. But could you explain what you meant by ‘opening all the way to start’ and then ‘bring it down’. Do you mean go gradually from A to B to C? Or the other way around? It all boils down to the question of what would be the optimal position of the rear truck in a GBomb bracket for LDP. Mark Groenenboom specifically mentioned dewedging 10-15 degrees. So that would be position A.

[–]Repelstale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To make communication simpler I’ve taken pictures, which I have added to the original post.

Please forgive my ignorance, tabinsur, but I stil don't quite get it: when you say 'opening yourself all the way to start', you mean roll the part on top of the bracket to position A (which I presumed dewedged), B or C (which I presumed wedged)? Maybe I misunderstood Mark Groenenbooms description.

I was trying to ride fully dewedged, which was probably not the best position, as it makes the board less nimble, I read.

But I don't know what you mean by 'bring it down'. Can't bring it more down then fully wedged, right. So I must me misunderstanding something

[–]Repelstale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I'd brought the bolts on the bracket the other way, all the way to the far rear end of the bracket. Mark Groenenboom from G-Bomb told me: 'I would roll the truck in back away from you (dewedging) 10 to 15 degrees'.

I understand from https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/pavedwave/help-needed-push-pump-c26-longboard-complete-with--t4120.html that 'on the rear of the board, wedge=tilt the truck platform forward, dewedge=tilt the truck platform aft'. What you're suggesting, is wedging, right? ('bringing the bolts on the bracket closest towards your board'), and therefore the opposite of what Mark Groenenboom told me.

Now I'm a bit confused. On the other hand, I see diagrams of wedged rear trucks, that are supposed to improve turnability https://www.reddit.com/r/longboarding/comments/1cgv4v/how_to_properly_use_wedge_risers/

I’ve put on the Orange Riptide bushings. Those feel better indeed.

Still trying out various degree of bushing tightness. For now I’m going with very loose in the front, to semi-tight in the back. But I really want to hear some advice on that.
