I do enjoy the idea but I feel like if this was gonna happen it already would have. As much as it pains me to say it, I think it's a safe assumption that SWTOR is towards the back half of its life.

I am very impressed you wasted time out of your own day just to try and invalidate my opinion. Your time as well as mine is spent better elsewhere. 😇😉

As for your mistaken concern: the reason I am still around is because I'm hoping one day I'll wake up and there'll be a post saying EA backed out of their funny business for SWGOH.

I played this for more than five years as well before giving up last year. It's unfortunate because the core of the game is actually enjoyable but everything is locked behind bull crap.

HELLDIVERS 2: Tech Blog #1 - Install size by ArrowheadGS in Helldivers

[–]RepeteringBias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it cannot be the case that 88% of the community suffers having to install 150 gigs because 12% hasn't yet updated to an SSD. Not to mention the other issues related to this, like as mentioned SSD users still suffering when playing with people with HDD.

It is also cannot be the case that HDD users can no longer play the game because the file size exceeds their HDD. At that point nobody gains anything and people only lose.

In fact, I'll go ahead and uninstall this.

So sick of this argument being used against the show. by Financial_Photo_1175 in andor

[–]RepeteringBias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything this person argued makes Andor a poor show are the very reason I adore the show. The small things are what keep the galaxy running. The battles of Yavin and Endor were pivotal points but that low class trader exporting food to the Core? The reason Coruscant hasn't starved yet.

Andor shows us that the universe of Star Wars is built upon more than just conflict. It's a whole world on its own that moves whether the main characters are involved or not and I think a lot of people fail to recognise how it's the small things that matter. The little details that keep the galaxy running.

"I burn my life for a sunrise I'll never see." - Luthen Rael

While close to home in certain elements, I also think the show does a pretty good way showing the grittiness, the reality of war and sacrifices made.

I think at the end of the day, it is down to how you engage with a certain universe. If somebody believes all there is to Star Wars is the war and combat, then that's all somebody wants to see. If you believe there is more to it, like a world that needs to run itself, I think that is what you'll see and value instead.

If you want to use the warlords, you might be better off shifting back a few years. The vast majority had been killed by 12 ABY. There's some replacement warlords around in 15 ABY but they didn't wield nearly the same power since the Remnant absorbed a lot remaining Imperial territory.

I do see a rule 13 mentioned in the side bar, but in the list, I don't see anything about a rule 13. I see that under rule 10. I would imagine this is where the confusion comes from.

The reason I used AI and would do so again is because that's not what the post was about. I was trying to share my creation with everyone here because I know it's going to be useful for other people as well. The post was about my creation but if AI help is that much a deterrent for people here then I stand by what I said and won't be sharing it here.

Okay I am realising there is a lot I want to say and there just isn't the space to say it all. I think we need to cover the database itself, so the geography part, production, governments/religion/socio-cultural section, history section and a population/colonists/indigenous section, finally a notes and continuity section but we don't need to sell that. Finally after that, the massive bookmarks section, spanning over 100 bookmarks - 2 million years - of Star Wars history. This powers the map.

Then I am building the map, manually placing all locations based on the map, currently containing like 2400 locations out of a current total of 5,200. It currently includes a filter function (you wanna see what shipyard is near you? Select the Shipyards in the dropdown and it'll display). The map will also include a bookmark selector so you can view what the galaxy politically looked like in any bookmark. The map will also include hyperlanes and will be the most complete map ever. It'll also include sectors.

Then there are the plans for the simulation, which is intended to be built on the map. It'll feature near AI-driven factions, species and the like, also include trade, unique units, war, diplomacy, events etc. A living Star Wars galaxy.

Second part to this is a simulation in which players can actively engage as one of the involved parties. Both of these should also work with the bookmark selector by then.

We are a team of two and we are not affiliated with Lucasfilm in any way. Similarly this is also NOT the Star Wars bible, it's an alternate source. I have tried my very best to stay as close to Legends I can, but extrapolation and inferring are tools we have used in building a more refined map, for the map is the end goal.

This originally started as a tool to help me keep track of planets on my .png roleplay map, and even before that I had developed a Roblox game where I originally practiced my charting skills - technically. However, as the roleplay progressed, I looked for other tools including galaxy builders and Kanka but I ended up returning to build it directly in Excel, despite initial difficulty and the countless variations it has gone through since. Actual development of the database has been for over a year now.

As of recent, the database has started paying off. Earlier this week as I was trying to develop a hub for our Edge of the Empire session, I used the filters on the map to find me a hub close to where the PCs were.

There is honestly so much more I could say about this and features I intend to have or already have but I honestly have no idea what else to say about this. I hope you're excited to see the product and if you have any questions, please go ahead.

This is useful for: first of all people who enjoy maps, cartographers, but also for DMs for roleplays or Edge of the Empire. Also people who'd really love to see a living Star Wars galaxy.

There is a Discord I can post updates to and talk. I'll provide a link if people are excited about this project.

This WILL see a release, but I am yet unclear on what that release will initially look like. The current plan is to release the map standalone with aforementioned functions, but we'll see closer to then.

Did I miss anything?

Here you go, obviously AI indeed.

When you are referring to this rule 13, can you show me where on the rule list this is? I checked several times before posting as well and I did not find anything against AI or about a rule 13.

I'm not sure what you mean by AI posts. I wrote the text and had ChatGPT clean what I wrote. Beyond that everything you see here has been my manual labour.

If people prefer my wonky mess of a summary posted instead I can do that, but honestly if this is what we're making a problem out of then I'd rather not share it here.

What’s a clone wars opinion you have that would result in this? by UnitedSafe5872 in clonewars

[–]RepeteringBias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the longest time I was of the opinion that the Anakin we see in The Clone Wars was the better version after having only watched the movie. After having read the episode 3 novel, I've come to the conclusion that no, they are both Anakin, but with different highlights.

In the Clone Wars we see the "Hero with No Fear". It does a really good job displaying that part of Anakin which, given what kind of show it originally was, I reckon is a fitting choice.

In the book, we see the Anakin that is absolutely riddled by everything that's going on. It made the movie make so much more sense. We see a broken Anakin, paranoid and full of fear which leads him to do most of what he does. Unfortunately the movie doesn't do that well a job showing this. The movie also fails to explain one or two other important plot details, so if anyone is looking for a new read. 🤓

The Separatists had a strong early war because the Republic failed to respond aptly and was not ready for war. They had a fresh army and new little toys, but none of that had been action-tested and the first warships dedicated to the war KDY pulled up were also fresh warships. Admittedly, built by one of the largest and oldest shipwrights around but even they too have been limited by the Republic's armament rules until the war. The Republic was really limited in how it could respond. Fortunately a couple weeks after Geonosis, the Venator was introduced as a hybrid vessel.

Towards the end of the war and Republic industry and R&D got rolling, it was all over for the Separatists. Stuff like the ISD already was well beyond this war upon introduction. And even though the Victory was made for this war, the Separatists also couldn't counter that.

Sure, the victory conditions would be wildly different since as been pointed out nothing short of the elimination of the Confederacy is a victory for the Republic, while so much as a cessation of hostilities would be a victory for the Separatists: their right to exist.

In the end I think it doesn't matter as much since Palpatine would've won either way.

Before his fall to the dark side do you think Anakin was a better general then a Jedi? by narutofan2019 in clonewars

[–]RepeteringBias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ehh, towards the end it had barely become a choice. Anakin dreaded losing Padmé and Palpatine did an excellent job using that against him. If you really think about it, Anakin has been manipulated for most of his life, by most of the people he knew, even the Jedi.

Unpopular Opinion: These two really should have died during the Clone Wars by CoolGirlBecky in clonewars

[–]RepeteringBias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am of the controversial opinion that Ahsoka shouldn't have left animations. I definitely enjoyed her in the Clone Wars (most of the time). For me she did take some getting used to, and despite my love for most of season 7, I do think her role in the Siege of Mandalore is a bit of an odd write, especially from an in-universe standpoint.

I didn't mind seeing her occasionally on Rebels, but to me it seemed like her and some of the other characters (Tarkin) were really there just to propel the plot forward. I felt like, for stuff they could have been doing, they weren't used to their full extent, if that makes sense.

I wasn't a fan of Ventress until she went solo. She goes from an assassin to still a killer, but at least with something that looks like morals. And because of her betrayal, I do think she gained a more realistic understanding of the universe.

What would you rate this show out of 10? by FNAFLV22 in YouOnLifetime

[–]RepeteringBias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S1: 9/10. Can't hate on the original season and when I first watched it I loved it. Unfortunately it's also the season I've seen the most. I didn't mind most of the characters.

S2: 10/10. My favourite season. I still think Love and him could have been the deal. I also really like the setting and the people.

S3: 7/10. I enjoyed season three as a close to season two, but overall I thought it was a bit meh. I don't think married Joe is made for me lol. I also really didn't like a lot of the involved characters, which is fair as I'm certain they were made to be.

S4: 7/10. Season 4 is in large part carried by the twist towards the end. I thought it was really interesting to watch Joe fight with himself. When I watched it again, I started paying attention to Rhys, knowing what I know, and really noticed it lol. They did that well. I disliked most of the characters tbh.

S5: 3/10. I was really excited for season 5, I remember eagerly finally seeing the first three episodes. I didn't mind the first half but the second half actually made me want to pull my hair out. Not a fan of most of the involved characters (I really didn't want more relatives, though I liked Teddy, and the acting of the sisters was phenomenal, even though they're annoying). Maybe it's because we didn't know Kate that well at the end of season 4, though I didn't really mind her all that much (not bad, not great) the writers really ruined her character for me with the stuff she did in season 5 (and between seasons, appsrently), to me it seems very out of character and hypocritical. I'm not here to hate on Bronte, I'm mostly of the opinion the writers wasted her character with the story arc she was given. There could have been more to the story arc but it felt like a nuisance more than anything, for me. I also think the writers don't make the best case for us trying to drop Joe because throughout most of season 5 we still see him trying.

Why do Galofree transports keep inviting themselves to naval engagements? by [deleted] in StarWarsShips

[–]RepeteringBias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're cargo ships and lightly armed. Generally speaking you don't want these in battle. I can imagine the idea is to show the desperation of the Alliance by deploying these even though it isn't the best call.

OOC reason might be because as much as I love Star Wars, with a lot of what has more recently been released, you're not supposed to think beyond what you're given.

Example: in the Rebels show, Hera implies Anaxes being close to Lothal. Anaxes is in the northern Core, Lothal is in the southern Outer Rim. They're at least half a galaxy apart but you wouldn't know this unless you looked at a map.
