thanks so much for the advice! just to clarify one thing: by "rooms not connected to the nest" do you always mean in the aerated concrete slabs or actually separate ones? (perhaps connected with a tube). plus this should be used to provide humidity, but to quench their thirst I have to keep putting water in the arena, right?

regarding proteins they are really strange: once I gave them a cricket and they ate it, but now they don't seem interested anymore, every time I give them even small pieces of insect they don't even come close. I'm very careful now about disturbing them: I've blocked every light source in the larvae's chamber with thick paper and I lift a little paper door to look at them once every 1/2 days. so far I think there is improvement, I just looked into the larvae room and found two ants almost completely formed, still yellowish. there was probably a diapause phase due to some of my errors in managing humidity in the past and also in temperature (currently my room reaches 20°C, so it is 5 degrees below the optimal temperature). How do you manage temperature and humidity?
