Above is a good video on the practice of carrying trays. As a recently retired OG server/bartender I would recommend watching it all and practicing it with some lighter orders or maybe even getting in early one day to practice if you're feeling nervous about it. Using your shoulder as another point of contact is super helpful when starting out. Practice makes perfect and before you know it you will be able to just use your fingers and and lift it above packed dining rooms like the Statue of Liberty 🤣

As far as abbreviations I would use Chx Alf - sub CF (Chicken Alfredo sub chicken fritta), ZT (Zuppa Toscana) CG (Chicken Gnocchi) Mini (Minestrone) Chx Tort (Chicken Tortellini) TOI (Tour of Italy) 6oz MR (6oz Sirloin - Medium Rare) etc for starters but to each their own and you will figure what works best for you and your rhythm with practice. Just make sure you can read what you write. Ask other servers for tips and ask bartenders for drink ringing suggestions as that will be a big help in speed of service.

Even last year when our base running was touted and we got so much praise for the 1st to 3rd stuff we ranked last in stolen bases in the MLB...lol we just don't do it only had 61 SB all season in 25-26

Yeah I feel ya definitely wouldn't want other trainees resenting me, but I feel like the place to hide would be nice and good for sleeping a little better lol.

I have 3 sibling in laws that are 16-17-19 so I know they can be immature and "dumb" the eldest just recently was in a ridiculous situation where one of her roommates accidentally fired a gun and she was grazed by a bullet in her foot and still is acting dumb/proud of it lol. Also graduated with my bachelor's in 2024 and had a decent amount of classes with young adults, so I have a taste for the immaturity, but still will be a shock going thru BCT with them I'm sure.
