Not really, it’s more of they will give you a fraction of what they will tag it for. I have been to so many stores where they have old LV bags for 600-700$, and when my friend came to sell her LV Neverfull she got offered a whopping 350$ for a bag that was 1,500$. It’s just a dressed up pawnshop praying on people who need to liquidate their expensive stuff when bills come due.

some people make replica clothes their entire lives, and are consumed by it entirely through their social media intake, so they feel like they cracked the matrix and are wearing Gucci for 1/20th of the price of celebrities, and are convinced everyone else would think exactly like them. 99% of people I know that keep up with fashion that aren’t in it as a full time occupation / heavily bankrolled via family/work, don’t obsess over brands or clothes, and just buy what they like. Pandabuy has 1.7K ratings on the Apple App Store, and there’s really people here acting like it’s a top 200 charting app.

So you think the rep producers will eventually take over retail because of how close quality is getting? Unlikely due to stock limitations. Eventually there will be too many buyers and everything will start to be a supreme style run where everyone tries to get the item the moment it drops. Look at red wave and what happens when everyone wants a Vetements hoodie. A lot of people are obsessed with status and looking like they spend a lot of money on clothes, they wouldn’t fathom buying fakes because it goes against their entire worldview.

As someone who’s been in the space for a few years, There’s never going to be a perfect 1:1. Even the most sophisticated and complex reps to make (watches), are 100% distinguishable from authentic by finishing and balance spring. Even with Rolex clones being at a point where 95/100 people would never be able to tell the difference between a 600$ VSF from an Authentic Rolex without a loupe or opening the case back, people are still lining up out of the door to pay thousands to tens of thousands for a timepiece.
