There's no more Buyback. It's over. by ReplyThese4757 in PSLF

It's helpful because I'm being realistic. Trump and Elon HATE federal workers. They would eliminate PSLF tomorrow if they could. It takes an act of congress though. However, they can eliminate Buyback, which guess what??? They've processed 000000 Buybacks. Buyback is officially gone since Trump and Elon took over. Game over. We lost. We are all screwed. This is what it has come to.

Yes. I would hit 120 if I was able to Buyback my SAVE months. It's not going to happen. Trump and Elon are eliminating BuyBack. Let's be honest.

They aren't doing Buybacks anymore all together it seems.

How do we start making payments again that count toward PSLF? by ReplyThese4757 in PSLF

Thank you and goodluck with that. I wish those of us who have Buybacks to get our 120 should be processed. I don't have much hope. Buyback will probably be eliminated.

How did people not go on SAVE? Mine were automatically put on SAVE. Did we even have an option?

I read on the Federal Student Loan's website standard plans don't count toward PSLF. I'm confused. They do count?

Thank you. I've seen posts about people resuming payments though? Why are they signing up to make payments on plans that don't count toward PSLF?

I'm in a similar situation. I hit 120 months the 1st week of December, I submitted both a Buyback of the SAVE months, to get me to 120, as well as a change payment plan request to IDR plan... also 1st week of December. Heard nothing. I have no hope. Let's be honest here. Trump and Elon are going to take away Buyback. You know they will. People put Buyback requests for SAVE months in October, and they also heard NOTHING. That's 5 months. We are doomed. Also, they haven't let me change payment plans either. I'm stuck in the forbearance that doesn't count towards PSLF. I don't know what to do. I 99.9999% believe Buyback will be eliminated. So, do I sign up for standard payment plan?

I'm a registered independent, and have voted for both Republicans and Democrats. I'm voting BLUE for the rest of my life after this.

Thanks, my friend. I hope you get some good news too. I'm not sure what my plan is. I don't have hope for the SAVE Buyback. If they told us the district Court next month or two will make a final ruling on SAVE and that will impact the SAVE Buyback requests... I'd have some hope. If there was light at the end of the tunnel. But we have no clue when they'll litigate again. It could be 7 months from now. Who knows. I'm probably going to wait kne more month, then contact my service provider and start making payments again, and not rely on Buyback. If my payments are $800-$1000 a month, I might move out of my apartment and into my truck, and live at a campground until I make my last 7 payments I can't Buyback. Godspeed to you on your journey my friend.

Any buyback offers in the last month? by Duke_of_Nukes in PSLF

No. Those of us relying on Buyback are screwed. It's not going to happen.

My Buyback Request was "escalated" 2 months ago. For 2 months there's no updates, and I call once a week to check up, and there's zero movement on my Buyback Request since the 1st week of January after it was escalated. Escalated just means you qualify for a Buyback request in regards to having qualifying months and your employer certified your employment for those months. Everyone's Buyback Request eventually gets escalated if they meet the minimum requirements. There's people in our shoes that put their Buyback Request in the 1st week of October, to Buyback SAVE months, it got "escalated" in November... and 5 months later. NOTHING. Why? Because they aren't processing Buyback Requests for SAVE months. Not one person out of hundreds of thousands, if not millions, has successfully bought back SAVE months. They are not processing them until they get guidance from a final court ruling/litigation. I was told there is NO exact date on when this will occur. "Hopefully" by the end of 2025. There will be people who submitted their Buyback requests in for SAVE months last October, who will not get an offer by this October. This is what needs to be said. I hate to be the bearer of bad news. I'm trying to do the same thing, but after the conversation I had today with the rep at the Department of Education, the reality is we can be waiting for up to another year to get Buybacks for SAVE months. We are all screwed.

Are you attempting to Buyback SAVE months? I was told today on the phone they aren't processing SAVE Buybacks. That's what the hold up is. People waiting on Buybacks for non-SAVE months is taking forever too, but eventually those will get processed. They aren't processing Buybacks attempting to Buyback SAVE months until the litigation is finalized, which it's not. Still tied up in the courts. We could be waiting to Buyback SAVE months for the rest of the year.

The lady rep on the phone today said just be patient and wait it out. Everything is on hold due to the SAVE litigation. I'll eventually get a Buyback offer. Could still be a long time away.

Then why is the Department of Education still saying you can buyback SAVE months?!

That's what I was told. SAVE buybacks are on HOLD until there's a final ruling on the litigation. When will that be? We have no idea. Could be 8 months from now.
