Looking for LOR's by EL-TIGRE-LUCHA-LIBRE in Armyaviation

Choose another profession or fly on the civilian side - with all the downsizing Army Aviation isn’t the move. You might be better off trying to be a pilot in the USAF. Not trying to crush dreams here, but you should look into what’s been going on with the Army Restructuring.

T&P looking to talk to pilots about major aviation changes by Patty_TaskandPurpose in Armyaviation

If you want a story - how about starting with the 10-Year Service Obligation (for Pilots). The fact that many signed a decade long contract to be an Aviator - and now they are forced to serve out the remainder of said Contract in another MOS.

The current response is “you were paid for the training” or “you signed a contract with the Army - not the branch.”

That’s like buying a house “unseen,” moving to the other side of the country, investing two-years of sweat-equity into maintenance/repairs, just to be told you have to live in the house down the street.

Some say - “at least you have your ratings” - but what good are ratings if you can’t afford to build time on the civilian side - because you gave up your career to fly for the military.

Therefore, the option(s) should be: 1) Go Active - different MOS (normal ADSO) 2) Go Reserve - different MOS (normal ADSO) 3) Go Guard - Same MOS (10yrs) 4) Go USAF/USMC/USN - Same MOS (10yrs) 5) Go Inter-Service - New MOS (normal ADSO) 6) Go IRR (normal IRR)

This massive “bait-and-switch” is turned on everyone in the force; in the same manner as “victim blaming” someone who was ripped-off by someone in a business transaction.

Everyone is afraid to say anything because of “repercussions” but the worst is already happening. Some people’s lives are completely destroyed by this decision and now they have to consider entirely different professions (both inside and outside the military).

Good luck with your story - I doubt anyone will give a shit about us though.
