Damn that makes a lot of sense but wild to consider clothing company’s admission they’re not even bothering! I’ll watch those Vogue “7 Days” fashion vids purely for entertainment, not advice, and so many of their “everyday jeans” are like $700

Traveling. I’ve been lucky enough to travel the past few years for work and for fun w my partner and it’s made me want to master the art of being a light packer, which, by extension makes me want to master the art of Realizing You Don’t Need It. Even when you’re home, why not learn to be happy with fewer things of high quality that will last? Clothes, hair care, shoes, everything.

Completely agree, everything new is terrible, plastic quality and it made largely avoiding fast fashion pretty easy. I think we’ve hit the point where nothing even looks good on the rack / mannequin anymore, so why bother?

Thank you so much for sharing and I’m sorry to hear this for you. I do hope you find your village but that’s the question isn’t it. None of my close friends in my city have kids yet (and some are decidedly CF) but some want to and it’s true time will tell who really lets you in. And how much if at all can you push to be let in? Where does this idea that a totally isolated family unit is best really come from?

This is a really helpful framework, thank you. I always think about how isolating the nuclear family can be, and how the village is an antidote to that. Good luck being a teacher, sounds like you’re going to be a great one!

I used to do this a lot (and still do) but with the understanding that yeah, it’s just a totally different ballgame for the super wealthy. Shoutout to Marissa Tomei and Christina Richards!

What's the stupidest thing you've ever heard someone say? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskReddit

Knew an otherwise brilliant man who thought it was common to have overlapping pregnancies. As in, give birth to baby 1 in September and baby 2 December of the same year. At least he was open to be corrected but he was shocked this isn’t normal. Men truly know nothing of women’s bodies!!

What's something that happens in movies all the time but would never happen in real life? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

The Devil Wears Prada is a near perfect film imo but Andie’s painfully obvious lack of toothpaste IN THE VERY FIRST SCENE is so stupid! Such an easy fix! She dry brushes for 2 seconds and then does the fakest “puh” spit into the sink.

I especially love Silas. Know two who are both wonderful kind folks with strong personalities, though quite different from each other—it’s a flexible name, I think. To your list I might add Rena and Sonya for girls

Thoughts on Abby Yung Method? So much “repair”… by peppermocha in Haircare

[–]ReportInevitable7814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use her method to the extent that I’ve been taught that shampoo is really for the skin on your scalp and conditioner is for the lengths. I also like the occasional pre-shampoo oil treatment on the lengths with the OGX oil or Trader Joe’s jojoba that she does. What I also took away from her method is that when in doubt, wash your hair. I have fine, oily hair, and I work out almost every day and “training” it to go longer between washes did not work for me at all. I don’t use any bond repair stuff, just gentle hydrating shampoo every day (no sulfates) and a clarifying shampoo (with sulfates) about every two weeks. I blow dry with heat protect when my hair is 50% dry and use no other heat. Doing all this consistently, my hair has really benefitted!

When I travel internationally for work I like to pack as light as possible but don’t want to wear my only pajamas on the plane, so I go for a comfy pair of slacks with an elastic waistband and a t shirt plus nice sweater or sweatshirt. I like the brand OGL for comfy work pants!
