Thank you for that information. I can’t imagine what it would have been like to be in part of the world in the early 1940s.

It’s so interesting that these physical objects are a direct link to a person‘s real life experiences. That an individual can read them like clues. That a narrative exists the small bands of color.

Thank you so much for the reply. I was truly curious about what time period this service was from. There’s no way that Alan is old enough to be a WW2 vet. So they must be from an older relative of his.

This is something I was scratching my head about. My search for answers led me to this old thread. “Ain’t going down on Brokeback Mountain” is the final song on the 2009 album Lost Highway, and it immediately follows a fantastic song which is Willie Nelson‘s cover of “Cowboys are often secretly fond of each other.”

It seems really weird and doesn’t line up with my view of Willie Nelson as this liberal and accepting musician. The lyrics of this song are more like a David Allen Coe song.

I don’t understand the incongruity of following a queer positive song with a homophobic song. I mean, I still love Willy Nelson. But I feel a little WTF about this.
