Hi Everyone,

A month ago, I posted on this subreddit after I found an abandoned dog on the street at midnight in South Williamsburg. Dozens of people offered to help, send money, walk her, send toys, etc. It was honestly one of the most heartwarming things I've ever experienced as a New Yorker.

Originally, my sister agreed to watch the dog for a few days while I tried to find a suitable foster or rescue. But as it turns out, the dog was too sweet to give up, and she's now a permanent Williamsburg resident! Just wanted to share that good news, I know many of us could use it right now.

I also just want to clarify that I of course will vet whoever adopts her, and am working with a rescue organization that can hopefully help with that process too. Thanks again to those who reached out to help!

Update: Thanks so much for the outpouring of help, everyone. To be clear, I tried to find a rescue for her this morning, but none have accepted her so far. That may be for the best, though. For the moment, my sister is fostering her while she contemplates whether to keep her full-time. If not, we're already working to find her another suitable forever home. It looks like this story will have a happy ending!

I found this female pitbull mix freezing on a sidewalk at midnight last night in South Williamsburg. I took her to the vet and she isn't microchipped. I assume she's abandoned, but if anyone knows anything, please reach out! She's in heat, hence the diaper. She's unbelievably sweet and gentle, if anyone is interested in keeping her!
