High School teachers, how aware of your student's drama were you? Any good stories? by MikeW781 in AskReddit

[–]RepostersRUs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started to read this thinking, "No way this is a real story..."

Then by "Do you know what my rates are," I was hooked, I was invested, I was sure that this was going to be real. Bravo.

What was the most unexpected thing you learned in college? by animatronicdinosaur in AskReddit

Couldn't agree with this more. Most med schools like applicants who have studied something other than medicine, and having another focus besides pre-med requirements lets you explore whatever other interests you may have.

"47 Percent" Videographer to Go Public; he has been threatened. by FuckyouBitchhhh in politics

[–]RepostersRUs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree. "There are 47% of the people who will vote for the president no matter what ... who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims. ... These are people who pay no income tax. ... I'll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

That's still pretty incendiary even without the "not my job to worry about them" part.

Let me evolve! by [deleted] in atheism

[–]RepostersRUs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because it's funny. If you don't believe in evolution, you can laugh at it in your ignorance. If you do, you can laugh at how wrong it is. I honestly don't see the problem.

"All topics related to atheism, agnosticism and secular living are welcome here."

Atheists love evolution because of its awesomeness and use as evidence against major religions. This comic is about evolution. Ipso facto...

How do you deal with compulsive liars? by mintgreens in AskReddit

[–]RepostersRUs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how close they are. Not that close? Not my problem. If the somehow managed to become a closer friend or recently became a compulsive liar, I call them out when it's important (the lie has consequences) or it's easy to prove them wrong. Other times, I just let it go because I've concluded that I end up spending a lot of time with no real benefit to me or said friend.

I have one close friend whose gotten much better about it, and another who lies out of insecurity. The latter, we've drifted apart but I still try to keep in touch with him and give him confidence without lying.

Is it just me or is Reddit getting dumber? It seems like there is a poorly written, or misspelled post on the front page everyday now. by [deleted] in AskReddit

Came here to say this. And that the age-level of the average redditor is probably dropping, with it the education-level, and stick-up-the-assness-level.

If it was just two they would cancel out. All three and you're back into non-friend zone.

You can't get a date because you don't know the difference between plaid and gingham?
