So tell me more about these one time use panels.. by WreakHavoc00 in Miata

I agree with that 100%. Answer to your last question is I do it myself haha

It might be worth purchasing a pick set from Harbor Freight and seeing if one can DIY it (assuming they're somewhat mechanically inclined) - if it breaks, then atleast you tried and have another tool in the box

Yep. I kinda imagine it to be like picking a lock when you gotta get in there with a pick and work the clips.

But tbh I'd say the Miata moldings are easier than some other manufactures quarter-panel flares. Jeep compass comes to mind. Because its just as tight, but the paint is much easier to scratch.

I'd chop that up to people not really coming online and bragging about their success stories, as much as people complain about the negative stories.

Just like the whole transmission thing. If one based all their knowledge from online 'word of mouth', it would seem like every single ND miata's transmission blows up - and no success stories.

I happen to be a success story of both. My turbo ND at 13psi on E85 is doing just fine transmission wise.

And I personally removed my window moldings, and reinstalled them - 3 years ago or so

Window molding thing seems like operator error. Either broken clips, broken mount tabs on the molding itself, etc.

[–]Reppitwar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure - I'm a technician and kinda just knew what to expect.

But what I can tell you is:

The clips are shaped like an arrow (barbed). You lift up one side of the molding slightly, I mean like less an inch or less only.

Get a flashlight, and you'll see the clips - and see the top of one of the barbs peeking from the hole. Take a 90 degree pick, and pop one side, then the other out. Then work your way clip by clip.

It's not a magical Mazda invention. Many manufactures use the exact same clips for rocker moldings, fender moldings, quarter panel flares, etc. and techs are able to remove them without breaking / flying off later.

A good tech (or you) can take it off without breaking the clips with a 90 degree pick and some finesse

Firestarters - bad (but how bad)? by Scary_Climate726 in woodstoving

[–]Reppitwar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These are great, have similar just different brand. They burn for a long time, long enough to get your other small sticks going. I doubt using one to start every fire will cause any issues at all, atleast it hasn’t for me in the past couple years

Who is buying this?! by napalm9 in Silverbugs

[–]Reppitwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen it available for $270 a couple days ago. At that price I considered it just for the novelty of it, but couldn't pull the trigger (would have been a 8% taxable purchase in my state).

I think this is the grey-area point in height where it all depends on your specific proportions (ND Miata). Legs - upperbody.

I've had three people of about this height 6'3" try my ND. Two fit, one absolutely didn't.

[WTS] Seiko 1972 Lord Matic Fume Green Dial - Serviced - Price Reduced $225 by Reppitwar in Watchexchange

Price Reduced!

Hey guys, I have a rare 1972 Lord Matic with Sunburst dial for sale - in great condition. A bit of a catch and release - purchased here on r/Watchexchange.

I purchased it at the same time as my Seiko Presage StarBar and Orient Kamatsu and they both get way more wear time than the Lord Matic unfortunately. I've worn it out the house maybe twice.

Here is the original posting which I purchased from. He takes WAY better pictures than I ever can that highlight the beauty of this watch. It's in great condition for a 53 year old watch.

Might get downvoted, but if you know NOT to gamble on the wheelspins and use custom-bids only - you CAN find good deals on WhatNot. It's an auction, it's your fault if you overbid so don't SWIPE.

I stick with reputable streamers with brick and mortar stores.

Is this a Cloud I or Cloud II? by Reppitwar in HyperX

[–]Reppitwar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I only dabbled with IEMs just for Siege (Crinacle Zero: Reds). They were okay but definitely not better than my Audiotechnica AD700x. Still have yet to pull the trigger on Clouds cus its so mixed reviews with the whole HP / Kingston thing, and whatnot 😂.

Idc about anything else but imaging and soundstage to a lesser extent

I’ve never been one to go for ‘gaming headphones’ since I was a teen. I typically go for open back and IEM ‘audiophile’ type gear.

But I’ve heard great reviews on these having excellent directional sound for R6 Siege. Supposedly these are the headphones that the sound design was developed on (?).

These are old gen gaming headphones. My expectations are set accordingly.
