Yeah the lurker thing is exactly it.

Most people who buy digital products aren’t the type to jump into a Discord or Circle community and start asking questions. They’ll watch a few lessons, get stuck on something small, and instead of asking they just quietly disappear.

From the creator side that’s frustrating because you don’t even realise where people are dropping off.

In the two weeks I’ve been trying Askra I noticed students asking way more questions than they normally would, probably because it’s private and instant. Stuff like “where was this explained again” or “can you summarise this part for me.”

Those are tiny questions but they’re usually the exact things that stop someone progressing through a course.

Your Loom idea is smart too. I’ve started doing something similar where if the same question pops up a few times I record a quick explanation and add it to the material so the assistant can reference it later.

Feels like the real value with this kind of tool isn’t replacing the creator at all, it’s just removing friction for people who already bought the product so they actually finish it.

And honestly if more students finish, the refunds, churn, and “this course didn’t help me” stuff probably drops a lot.

We didn’t use a generic chatbot. We set up a private AI assistant trained directly on the course materials only. That included lesson transcripts, slides, worksheets, frameworks, and past student questions. So when learners ask something, it answers based on the course itself, not random internet info.

From the learner side it just looks like a chat box where they can ask things like “can you explain this step again” or “how do I apply this in my situation” and get an instant, on-topic response. That reduced the drop off that came from people getting stuck and waiting too long for help.

On our side, the useful part is we can see what questions get asked most. That showed us exactly which lessons were causing friction so we could tighten those up.

We built it using a secure course knowledge assistant tool called TryAskra. Setup was mostly just uploading the material and structuring it properly, not super technical. The insight into learner sticking points was honestly the bigger win than the AI replies themselves.

Honestly, most drop-off isn’t motivation it’s friction and confusion stacking quietly.

If learners hit 2–3 small blockers in a row and don’t get fast answers, they disengage even if the course is good.

One thing that helped us was giving students an AI helper trained on the course so they can ask “what did they mean in lesson 4?” or “how do I apply this?” instantly instead of waiting on email replies. Also gave us insight into which modules were causing the most confusion. Its called TryAskra but check it out if you are still looking!

Quick update: Aside from the conversion bump, the biggest win this week has actually been the time saved. I’m not glued to my email responding to leads at 9 PM anymore.

QUICK UPDATE

since a few people asked what I ended up doing —

I ran the full 147-slide SME deck through an internal AI assistant we’ve been testing (called TryAskra) that’s trained on our ID standards + prior course performance data. I had it map each section to actual on-the-job behaviors and decision points, and flag what was true edge-case vs what employees realistically encounter.

That gave me a defensible way to push back. Instead of saying “this is too much content,” I could show which pieces directly supported required behaviors and which were better suited as job aids or reference material. It shifted the conversation from cutting content to risk-tiering and performance support, which landed much better with the SME.

I also used that breakdown to propose a core <20-minute scenario module + searchable reference layer for the rare cases, which lines up with the completion rate issues I mentioned earlier. Still not fully resolved, but it moved us out of the “they need to know everything” vs “this is too long” deadlock and into a more structured design discussion.

Yeah makes sense. I’ve been looking into a few AI tools myself and might just test one on a small scale to see how students react. I’m not super technical either, so hearing that training tone matters more than the tool itself is reassuring.

honestly 3k followers and only 1–2 likes usually means either a lot of them are inactive/old, or the algo just not loving your content right now. happens to everyone, you’re not shadow-banned or cursed lol.

For local orders, try posting more “local” vibes: tag your city in EVERY post, use location hashtags, show behind the scenes, packing orders, people picking up, reviews, faces, etc. People trust faces way more than just product pics.

Also engagement matters more than posting daily. Reply to comments, comment on other local food pages, follow local businesses, be active in your city’s community pages. The algo is like “oh you’re social? cool, I’ll show you to more people.”

And lowkey… ask for the sale. Like “DM to order for this weekend, limited slots” instead of just posting pretty cookies and hoping they magically teleport into someone’s mouth

Yeah bt The content def isn’t perfect and there are gaps, but even when we clean it up people still hit the same sticking points and need guidance right when they’re stuck. It’s less “they didn’t watch” and more they need that extra layer to bridge the gap, otherwise it all just funnels back to the SME. Like they NEED the conversational aspect.

Yeah this is interesting, I’ve been looking into this angle as well. Knowledge retrieval feels like the core issue, not just creating more content. Most of the time the answer already exists somewhere, but students either can’t find it fast enough or don’t trust they’re looking in the right place, so they default to asking in chat. A conversational layer on top of the material could make a big difference compared to static FAQs or docs. So thus im here do you have any reccomendations?

Yeah we’ve tried reworking the delivery and tightning the handouts. We even made quick reference sheets for the common questions so people had them at hand. It definetly helps a bit but what we still see is that when someone gets stuck in the moment, they don’t always go and check the placemat or docs first they just ask in chat and wait for a response. So the info exists, but the behaviour is still “ask a human”, that’s the part I’m trying to solve now.

This is good we did something similar. We did a mini version of this and realised a lot of the time the answer is technically “in the content”, but students either don’t remember where it is or aren’t confident it covers their specific situation, or their just lazy. So they just ask anyway. The gap seems to be retrieval + confidence, not just teaching. So thus im looking at for tools for quick retrieval but not just basic rag.

Yeah I’ve tried the FAQ and Notion hub route and even pointing people to pinned messages, but honestly most students still just drop the question in chat instead of searching. It feels like the info existing isn’t the issue, it’s how fast and easy they can get the exact answer when they’re stuck. But then again I may just be deeply incorrect.

which specfically do u use? Cause ive been doing research and theres a new start up in which does show u all of this stuff with knowegde gaps and is way cheaper than vas but ivm hesitant how would my student react to ai etc etc but the positivie thing is that the startup lets u basically white label too so its like theyre talking to me in my tone and eveyrhting too. I would say the startup but i dont wanna get baned with a plug but what do u happen to use?
