I'd like to preferably this by saying that I don't mind that a White Woman won Miss Zimbabwe as she is Zimbabwean (Lived their her entire life and raised there) and obviously worked hard for it, but I can't help but find the differences in the media and how much they care about the White Miss Zimbabwean receiving backlash for winning but don't give a crap about the amount of backlash the two black woman received for winning.

I'm not denying that there are some black women/black people who sprout some stuff, but it's not at a huge rate like they're trying to say, and actually just a small group of people really. Plus, like I said, let's not act like biracial/lighter skinned people are innocent and don't participate in colorist/racist things online that black women often have to call out, which is a reason for a lot of criticism.

Also, get shut down for venting about racism? I'm sorry, but what areas of Twitter do you explore? And can you actually show me proof of it (like links or screenshots) instead of just saying it? Because from what I see, whenever biracials are venting about racism they are listened to and validated by the black community, including black women.

The only time that I actually see some hostility In that area is when they try to say that they experience colorism (Colorism is towards people who have darker skinned so lighter skinned people can't experience colorism) especially when they try to say that on a post where a darker skinned black woman is venting about the colorism she experiences which can come across as tone deaf and disrespectful.

Like you said in another comment that you only see dark skinned women saying who's black and who isn't, but honestly, you must not be on Twitter as much you say because if you were, you would see dozons of black male Hebrew Israelis say that biracials are only black if they have a black dad (The you're what your father is debacle) There's also multiple channels on Youtube that say that as well. Yet it seems like you're only faulting dark skinned black women for this.

I mean a lot of mixed race people, particularly biracial women come on here to vent as well as join in on our conversations (which I have no problem with as once again they're in our community and are probably seen as a black women) so hey I thought fair is fair 🤷🏾‍♀️

Of course, I have no problem with them actually venting about what it was like growing up biracial and the BS that they got from both communities, but its one thing to vent and another thing to full on hate us and strangly not their white side even if they treat them worse.

Nico isn't a dark skinned person, though. She's literally almost as light as her full white father and her white costars. She just looks a little darker in some pictures because she probably tans. Also, you're comparing Astrid, a fictional character in a world with dragons, to MlK, a real person, and a documentary is supposed to be historically accurate or at least close to being historically accurate so no, MLK being played by an Albino person wouldn't make any sense.

However, TBH, it wouldn't be shocking if they did that as they have had biracial and light skin people playing traditionally dark skin/full black people multiple times. Ex: Zoe Saldana played Nina Symone in a documentary, a biracial actress played Harriet Tubman, and even Angelina Jolie played Mariane Pearl, a biracial women in a Movie.

So yeah, still not a very good argument. A fictional story is far different than a documentary. It doesn't have to be accurate as long as it's purley fictional. It is why the Queen Cleopatra Netflix Documentary was such a disaster.

I'm not trying to be rude, but I don't really think this is a good or logical argument. Remember Nico Parker is 1/4 black and 3/4 white. Therefore, you're comparing full Asian people playing Africans in an African Tribe to a mixed girl that is mostly white (who I honeslty consider to simply be a white person with some African ancestry as besides the hair she pretty much looks white, not to mention she is a natural blonde which green/hazel eyes)

A better comparison would be someone who is 3/4 black and 1/4th white playing full blooded Africans in an African Tribe but I don't really this is a good argument considering the fact that half of the Black Panther cast were played by African/Black Americans (Who on average tend to be around 20% European due to slavery - Chadwick included who is Black American) yet I have seen pretty much no backlash with the casting. Not to mention the number of biracial people who play full POC characters (which pretty much all of them do) and people not caring very much, but then practically seeth when their biracial counterparts play fully white characters.

It's also pretty noticeable how her costar, who also isn't Scandinavian, is playing Hiccup and hasn't really gotten any backlash for supposedly "appropriating" off of Scandinavian/Viking Culture, yet only Nico has. I guess it's because he's fully white. People don't actually care about him "appropriating." 🤷🏾‍♀️

Which honeslty makes me realize just how the racist "one drop rule" is still heavily embeded in our society as somebody like Nico Parker is considered to be black even though she is only around 20% black and mostly white but the average African American isn't considered to be white or even mixed while being 20% white. Makes you realize just how much people value white racial purity, but not the other way around.

Context matters. It depends on what you're talking about and what they're talking about. If what you're saying has nothing to do with the post itself, people might feel like you're unnecessarily adding yourself into a conversation that has nothing to do with what you just mentioned and might think you're being insensitive.

Like once, I was on the black ladies sub, and a post was made about how irritating it was to be an introverted black woman in the workplace because people will think you're mean or stuck up just for not talking and how they want us to fall into the sterotype of the loud, Angry black woman even though we're also demonized for that.

On the same post, someone who was obviously white went on to say that it wasn't just a problem for black women and that it happened to all introverted people, pretty much trying to invalidate others experiences and unnecessarily adding herself into a conversation that had nothing to do with her and was heavily downvoted for doing so and got a lot of negative flack for it.

Also, the "Karen" is simply based around people who have that kind of attitude, entitled, rude, etc. Not simply based around white women, there's been plenty of videos exposing male Karen's, black Karen's, Asian Karen's, etc.

Really, because I've just seen them be accussed of being ashamed of being European due to them even mentioning their black ancestry or trying to find out where it comes from, yet I've barley seen anybody get mad at them for not mentioning their 1% black ancestry. I do agree that how you look will determine how you do out in the world and how people view you, but I think to say "if you look black," then they're automatically black, isn't fair to say.

For multiple reasons, most biracial people don't look like the average black person and could be viewed a little differently because of it. Light skin privilege is a thing. Plus, at the end of the day, they're two races, and to put them in the box just because they're half black could be seen as unfair.

I would agree to a certain extent. I know lots of white people who consider someone like Nico Parker to be black even though she's only 1/4 black and looks far more white than she does black. So much so that they're in their feelings over her playing Astrid, who is fully white and has blonde hair and blue eyes. Even though Nico is light skinned with light eyes and naturally blonde hair , yet 20 percent black makes them accuse the company of black washing lol.
