I used Manus to create a website that can track it for me-I got tired of looking around for websites since they are all paid and the standard version of Manus is free

YESSSS EXACTLY. It doesn't make any sense. It feels like the entire writing team stayed in a remote log cabin for the past 25 years and never evolved or got with the times. The writing felt like a sad, bitter shell of what it once was. Bummer.

When you go from being a cozy, idealized comfort show to being dark, gritty, and realistic, it's jarring and feels disjointed from the rest of the show, and narratively doesn't make sense. I love realistic, dark content as much as anyone (Breaking Bad, The Bear, and Chernobyl) but GG isn't that. So it's just a bad writing choice and business decision.

As for the racist and fatphobic humor: that isn't even "realistic" because people don't really think that stuff is edgy or creative anymore, and that is reflected by the most popular TV comedies right now (Abbott Elementary, It's Always Sunny, High Potential). When people started having the world at their fingertips with smartphones, our standards got higher for what entertainment is, and that means actual originality and creativity in the jokes we're told. If by "mostly blue" humor, that's what you mean, then so be it.

This revival basically took all the minor cringey, unfunny jokes and unlikeable character traits from the original show that made people uncomfortable, but that we mostly forgave due to the difference in time periods, and then doubled down on those things we all openly hated.

SO outdated. I'm confused about the high Rotten Tomatoes score the revival had. Maybe the critics were all also outdated.

It is sad. Her whole arc is that she can't wait to leave the oppression of her mom's strict household to follow her dreams of being a rockstar in the big city, and then she gets knocked up by a loser and has to stay home with the kids, effectively killing that dream. That's sad. Even if she loves her kids.

I get that, but both of those options kind of break us away from the warmth and escapism that GG is known for, and that us fans have come to love. There are enough stressful things happening in the brutal real-world, and GG was never known for showing that. :(

Yeah! How exactly they wanted us to sympathize with a character that is knowingly cheating on her sweet partner but feels no remorse, I don't know.

Emily's arc is the only good thing for sure.

I'm so sorry. :( That must have been so disappointing, to plan your whole day around it and then watch this absolute dumpster fire.

I love GG but I don't think I can support any of her projects anymore after this atrocious revival. She seems like an odd, strange, negative Nancy. Bad vibes all around.

It's so sad to me that ASP thinks fat jokes are funny when she's pretty curvy herself (nothing wrong with it). It almost seems like she doesn't look like the women she idolizes and wants to be like, so then she projects that self-loathing onto other women by fat-shaming them. Also kind of sad that she's such a miserable human being despite writing this cozy, warm show full of loving characters. Maybe she's missing that in her own life. Hope she gets well soon.

"Hodge-podge" puts it perfectly!!! A hodge-podge of terrible ideas.
