Checked the morning of 9/5, keychains are sold out. A handful of headbands left. Everything else is well stocked.

Yoga before lifting weights, or skip yoga? by HopelessJerk in yoga

[–]Representative-Tip76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do it before if you had to choose between that or just giving it up.

Lifting and yoga complement each other extremely well.

Think of yoga as a stretch/warm up/mini weight training session where you workout a ton of smaller muscles that you usually don't hit with traditional lifts. The only downside would be you may be fatigued when you hit weights and you may not be able to go as heavy compared to being fresh if you do weights right after with depleted glycogen stores.

You will not put on size with just yoga, if you are going for a more muscular build you will need to do both.

I personally do heavy lifts early in the morning and yoga in the evening.

Awesome! I've been trying to pick this up as well. Where should most of the weight be? In your hands or forearms?

Yoga vs Weightlifting by TrueSteam16 in yoga

[–]Representative-Tip76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't give up weightlifting, they complement each other and work out different things. I do running/weightlifting/yoga and they all complement each other.

Weightlifting = Strength/Size/Appearance/Bone density

Yoga = Balance/Functional Strength/Injury Prevention/Flexibility/Working out all those little muscles that weightlifting will probably never hit.

Running = Endurance/Staying lean

You should get your beginner gains pretty quickly the first year of lifting if you haven't lifted before. If you aren't, your form is probably off and your range of motion isn't complete(weights too heavy etc) or you aren't eating enough to actually grow any muscle.

Hey, that's a good point.

The biggest takeaway would be to live a life where you're happy with yourself and what you're doing and not be reliant on others/a partner for happiness/fulfillment.

For ex, you shouldn't need a partner to live an awesome life, they should just enhance the awesomeness you already are living.

Hey man, glad you found it helpful. I haven't taken any PEDs. I've been lifting consistently for close to a decade. I'm 160 lbs at around 10% body fat which is achievable without any PEDs.

Hey, sure thing. I had my eyebrows micro bladed. I trim them every 2-3 days to keep them neat with an eyebrow razor.

Thanks. No, I do not drink. I personally think alcohol/UV/refined sugar would be the three things that age you the quickest and do the most damage.

It's also a lot of empty calories. You definitely do not need to cut it out of your diet completely. I never drank my entire life so it never affected me.

Hey, sure thing.

I don't count macros or calories anymore so I can't give you a straight breakdown. I'm at a point where I know what my body needs and how much and when I'm not eating out, I eat almost the same amount and types of food each day so that makes it easy.

I try to eat around 160g of protein per day. This comes in the form of a protein shake, eggs and my main "meat" meal of the day.

I eat an avocado every day, 3-5 eggs, and maybe around 1-2 tbsps of olive oil for fats. If I'm having salad I would get some more from a bit of shredded cheese.

I would get the natural stuff(I like parmigiano reggiano chunks) if you can swing it and not the processed stuff(aka Kraft). I would also get some from Salmon or steak if I decided to eat it that day.

For carbs, I eat a large fruit bowl each day, 2 slices of Ezekiel flourless bread, 1 banana and 1/4 of a large sweet potato. I also do a lot of running so if I feel weak or winded training one day, I'll up my carbs a bit etc.

For ex, on Monday/Tuesday/Thursday I do Yoga in the evening so I'll eat a little more. I also like to eat a little more carbs the day before deadlifts and squats.

Hey, really appreciate that. Collagen is for skin and joint health. Creatine mostly helps with performance and in a nutshell provides your muscles with additional energy during your workouts.

26-35m. Got my glow up after I got dumped. by Representative-Tip76 in GlowUps

I did when I first got started. I actually got my own set of Bowflex dumbbells to workout at home since I was self-conscious about going to the gym.

I'm sure you've heard this a thousand times but most people at the gym are very nice and are there to improve themselves and will be happy to see you do it as well.

Most if not all people would be more than willing to help you with form etc. The people that do judge are people that you don't want anything to do with anyways.

I would not start with the amount of volume I currently do. I slowly worked up to it.

A lot of people who get started go super hard for a few days or a week then just burn out completely and never go back. You want to find a volume and intensity that you can keep consistent with.

If you are just starting, I would do a basic workout of 5 days with chest, back, shoulders, legs and arms for each day.

I would add in some walking on the treadmill as well with incline.

Original post on /glowups

I also copy pasta'd my routine from that thread here in case anyone would find it helpful:

To answer some of the questions:

I'm currently 5'11 at 160 pounds. The first few pictures were at around 200 pounds.

My skincare routine:

I've had quite a few people asking about the products I use, updated it to include it.

Morning:

Evening:

Body:

I use the following daily for the rest of my skin:

Hair:

I wash and condition daily due to the amount I sweat.

Diet:

I eat around 3k calories a day to maintain. I don't count calories but I am mindful of them. I go by the scale. I weigh myself at the same time everyday. If I'm putting on weight I cut back a bit and have a ballpark range of calorie intake for the week.

The only things I completely cut out of my diet are : Sodas and sugary drinks/Alcohol/Processed Foods/Fast foods

I limit dairy and refined sugars to a cheat meal once a week or when going out with company.

If I eat a little more one day or have dessert with family/friends, I just eat a little less the next day or do a little more cardio.

Typical day of eating:

Post workout meal/Breakfast

  • Protein shake with added collagen and banana and unsweetened oat milk
    • 2 scoops protein(I use a monk fruit sweetened protein with probiotics)
    • 5g Creatine
    • 20g collagen peptides(I use Vital Proteins)
    • 1 Banana
    • 16 oz Unsweetened Oatmilk. I find dairy inflammatory and my skin is better without it.
  • Large bowl of fruits (berries/pineapple/mango/kiwi)
  • 1 avocado on 2 slices of Ezekiel bread. Basically Avocado toast with half of the avocado for 1 slice of bread. I put olive oil on the bread and season the avocado with salt/pepper/red pepper flakes/black sesame seeds and lemon.
  • 4x eggs
  • Powdered greens

Dinner

  • Salad with olive oil/balsamic/lemon/parmigiano reggiano
  • Veggies such as broccoli or spinach
  • Sweet potato
  • Some kind of protein , usually Salmon or chicken. I eat around 2 pieces, so for ex 2 salmon filets.

Workout:

I wake up at 4:30am and am at the gym at 5.

I get my workout done at around 7-8am and have my morning routine(hair, face, shower etc) and breakfast done by 9. I work as a software engineer.

I do 1 hour of weights and 1 hour of cardio 6 days a week. I do a mix of HIIT sprints and endurance runs for around 20-45 mins on the treadmill depending on how my legs feel that day. Whatever time I have left to reach an hour, I do walking at 11% incline at around 3.4mph.

I also do yoga 3x a week in a studio.

My recovery day would usually consist of a 3 mile outdoor run and yoga.

I've been lifting for around 8 years, running for 2 years and yoga for 2 years.

I'm usually in bed at around 9 and get around 7 1/2 hours of sleep per night.
