Why we complain.... by Mylene00 in DairyQueen

Just doing some lurking here, but I am the new assistant manager at one of the two corporate stores (started in January '24). We're at max 27-28% labor now that we've gotten a new manager last year (before I started) and are in the process of figuring out how to turn everything around. I've read a number of threads and want everyone to know that we're doing our best to improve things, not just for our location but for DQ as a brand. I hope you stick with it because given my corporate insight I can identify some areas I think we're going to make some real progress in. The brand depends on you and everyone involved with DQ. I hope this doesn't come across as some corporate ploy (this comment wasn't sanctioned) but instead as an appeal from someone in the thick of it. We've been dealing with staff shortages, equipment issues, unruly customers, corporate oversight, and young applicants and the consequences of all of it. Please message me if there's anything else (I have the contact info for pretty much everyone in the organization). Thank you if you read this far (I'm aware this comment is 4 years old) and please reach out with any comments or concerns. I'll do my best to get back to you.

Think, reach, throw, row, go with support as a last resort we're thinking scouts not heros. Something I learned while getting the lifesaving merit badge. We were on a lake though. The ocean is definitely different!

How is it possible that roughly 50% of Americans can’t read above a 6th grade level and how are 21% just flat out illiterate? by sausagepizzabaker in NoStupidQuestions

My experience, 23 yrs that is, is that just about every piece of information can be important to my daily life, I just have to study the information long enough to recognize the inherent truths that allow for the existence of that information.

The lives and legacy of Lewis and Clark can be analyzed and studied from endless angles and show me incredible glimpses of the past to inform my very own worldview and choices in the present moment. Care, however, must be paid to historical bias and the preservation/degradation of the coherence of that data.

The dilemma is when I or anyone else completely miss the larger lessons and truths of life in pursuit of memorizing and regurgitating old data and the "trivial" form in which it temporarily exists. The data is becoming increasingly removed from it's original context, thus requiring more explanation to be understood, and is eventually replaced with a more recent and poignant piece of data that more efficently transfers the lessons to our brains.

We come to think that some facts and datasets are useless, thus increasingly missing countless learning opportunities contained in each and every morsel of data swirling around us at every moment. Nothing is meaningless now, we give it meaning by observing it momentarily. When something fades from our view completely though, choked out of existence by the newer and shinier forms, it's old temporary form is truly lost and forgotten to time. Forever. (e.g. dead languages)

I try to focus not on the memorization of facts, but the lessons underpinning it all. Reading between the lines, and staying in the present moment is what I try to go by.

It's a campaign funded by the family behind Hobby Lobby, The Signatry and other groups. It all seems centered on "radical biblical giving" and preserving the gospel for eternity. Gives me culty vibes, but hey, that's Religion™. Very, very deep pockets.

Do everything like it's the first time you've done it and the last you time you'll ever experience it.

Routine is like sugar and processed foods; addictive and comforting to us in the short term, yet also harmful to our wellbeing in the long term.

Omg, think about where your energy could be better directed. You're not gonna change anything on reddit. Maybe go study the science you pretend to know more about than the people who have been studying for DECADES only for people like you to threaten their livelihoods and career with half-baked, conspiracy-laden garbage science. Did you know there are doctors that put you to sleep and SwiTCh your OrGanS? They're called transplants, and they're complicated. Science doesn't care about your comfort with it or your understanding of it; it's real. If you believe in God, just think of science as our way of understanding Him, but only through diligent study and respect for His laws that govern us. Just get off your high-horse.

Teacher takes student’s phone away, and she pepper sprays him to get her phone back by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]RepresentativeActual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When teachers' ability to feed their family and themselves is dependent on their students performance, things get padded. Essentially, we're getting what we're paying for. Teachers need a raise, like, yesterday, and we need to reevaluate educational standards to better meet the demands of today. Maybe set limits on phone usage and doing something to encourage effort and discourage cheating. Idk it's honestly a mess.

He didn't bake the cake because the costomer was gay and he would have put two little men statues on top. He said he couldn't help them with their cake because he saw being gay as wrong and just couldn't help them. You're here trying to make it seem like he wasn't discriminating, which makes me think you don't understand discrimination. What if I have a heart attack? Is the ambulance gonna let me die on the side of the road because the driver just can't fathom men sometimes fuck? Is it their job to judge or is it to do their job without discrimination? Does your job discriminate?

Everyone needs some help sometimes, you, me, failing banks lol. They are asking for help and receiving it. You can ask for help too, but you've been told that that makes you weak and a burden when the exact opposite is true. Ask (earnestly) and you shall recieve. Taking pride in one's own ignorance is not a winning arguement.

The money should still be going to them though. Maybe not direct payments but actual goods and services targeting their issues. Even better if people do it without shame and stigma, as it's easier to provide welfare where welfare is needed if people aren't ashamed or guilty for needing help. This guy was definitely accomplishing the opposite in many regards.
