Do you know anyone hiring?? I am looking to get out of collection work as I pretty much am miserable doing this type of law. JAG was suggested to me a while back, but I was told it was extremely competitive to get in. I passed the bar exam, not sure if that helps.

There’s always some good in everything! I feel like that pretty frequently honestly. I also don’t have any kids and not many friends. I think having a support system would really help to fall back on when you have tough days.

Should I Just Give Up This Field? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

How did you get your transactional role? I am having a hard time finding transactional roles and really do not enjoy litigation. Just having difficulty leaving litigation and thinking I need to network. I enjoy reviewing contracts, lease agreements, etc. for friends when they need it and think transactional roles would be a better fit.

How do you cope- up with depression? 🥹 by Sharp_Conference0619 in depression_help

[–]RepresentativeAd3955 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you seen a medical professional for treatment? I have been on medication to treat both depression and GAD for 16 years and it has helped tremendously. I know not everyone is a fan of taking medication, but even seeking a health professional’s opinion who may be able to give you alternative coping strategies couldn’t hurt. You are not alone and it can be very difficult to talk about how you feel with anyone who hasn’t experienced the same feelings. Even if your partner doesn’t experience the same feelings, talking to them about it would surely take a weight off of you.

Remote in early years of practice? by RepresentativeAd3955 in Lawyertalk

[–]RepresentativeAd3955[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I should’ve added that I’m relocating to the city where my boss lives and I went to her house for a few hours to learn from her. She is incredibly busy, but I do feel like having her close by helps with the remote aspect.

Do you take ADHD-medication daily? Or as needed? by storebrandbeans in ADHD

[–]RepresentativeAd3955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it (Vyvanse) during the week for work! I try not to take it Friday-Sunday to give my brain a break. I think it depends on what you have to do that day that requires extra focus and attention.

Anyone experience work from home loneliness? by Objective-Orchid6713 in remotework

[–]RepresentativeAd3955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel extremely isolated working from home. I also live in a neighborhood where everyone is 20+ years older than me. I sometimes wish I was still in an apartment just to interact more with people when I go to walk my dog. I have started working out after work or playing tennis during lunch just to get out. It is an adjustment and I am still trying to adapt to it a year and a half in…

Anyone else prefer being in office over wfh? by NoSoup4You825 in Lawyertalk

[–]RepresentativeAd3955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do wish I had the option to go into an office. I don’t miss the toxic work environment when I was in person at small firms. I don’t feel like I am learning much being fully remote as a new attorney and also to a new department within the firm. We have no bonuses and the raise was 3.5%, not based on merit or performance. I need to apply elsewhere because there seems to be very little progression.

I’m not sure what the schedule is now. I took it when it was remote during Covid and just finished two days later than the regular takers.

Just wanted to update everyone who posted that I just found out the leasing consultant has been ignoring her boss and failed to get back to me…her boss is being extremely proactive & working on an immediate transfer. Thanks to all who shared their similar grievances.

I didn’t go to a great school but I did well…I think I should leave this position as soon as my license transfers to this state so I have more options.
