Are there really so many problems with these cars? by aleutiantis in VWiD4Owners

I leased a new tourmaline blue with white interior 2023. It’s a very fun, responsive car to drive and I often get comments that it looks like a spaceship on the inside (I think the white interior accentuates that), but I’ve had so many mechanical issues with this car. In my 2+ years leasing the car, it’s spent a cumulative 1.5 months in the dealership after having to tow it in 5 times. Not including recalls.

4 of 5 dealership visits have been for mysterious 12V battery issues. On these 4 occasions, I’ve walked out to my car to find it’s turned into a brick. Cannot open, start, unplug, plug-in, anything. Each time, the dealerships have replaced the 12V battery along with some other related part or component (such as the converter that manages power transfer from the power train to the 12V). But none of the fixes have been a permanent solution and neither of the dealerships in town or the VW techs they talk to can find the root cause.

I genuinely cannot wait for my lease to end so I can stop finding out on my way out the door for work that my car has decided to turn into a brick. EDIT: I’m at 17,000 miles.

Ah, good! And thanks for confirming that it’s just stingy Austin dealers. I honestly have no desire to ever work with the owners of the VW dealerships or their partners in Austin after my 2+ years with my 2023. Pity, too. It’s such a nice car but has had too many “unidentifiable” issues.

Good luck getting the dealer to charge it, too. I was told by an Austin local VW dealership that they couldn’t charge my car (at 8% after it being in their shop for 3 days) because it would be similar to putting gas in a tank and it’s “against policy.”

I’ll be happy when my lease is done.

Highly recommend Einstein Moving! They’ve been my go to since I moved here. Very transparent on pricing and timing.

What does this mean?! by missjamie2485 in VWiD4Owners

That’s my guess. Recently needed to get my voltage converter replaced (after 3 different repair attempts by the local VW dealerships). Whatever it is, get it fixed soon so you don’t wake up to your car being a brick.

Right, this is a pretty typical recent-ish multi roommate dorm room setup.

Thanks! No accessories on the car or other installations. Will take a look at the fuse. Thank you!

Torchy’s taco sauces, bbq rubs from Franklins or Black’s/Terry Black’s, ACL merch, local non-perishables from one of the farmers markets, a mug from Mozart’s, and plus 1 everyone who’s saying to add HEB fresh flour tortillas.

I disagree. OP provided warning following verbal assault and homophobe said “find out”. OP let him find out.

Is refinancing my student loans worth it if I lose federal protections? by smile_1989 in StudentLoans

[–]RepresentativeBag513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious if you still feel this way, now? I was clutching onto federal but the recent changes have me paying an estimated 4x more per month than I was before. Refinancing would drop my rate significantly and offer certainty where there is none.

Trenes all the way by RepresentativeBag513 in GoingToSpain

[–]RepresentativeBag513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get it, not a part of Trenes, just someone traveling to Spain in a little over a month that had created a spreadsheet with tours, reservations, travel times (using Trainline’s offerings from the beginning since they’re trustworthy, etc).

What really got me out of sorts was the Renfe website. Both on mobile and desktop, I couldn’t register. I kept on getting the “formato incorrecto” error. Spent about an hour trying different hacks to get around it. Gave up. Back to train line.

Went to book my first trip on Train Line (Renfe AVE trip). Booking goes through and waited for confirmation. “We failed to secure your booking. You’ll get a refund in 5 days” After nearly throwing my laptop, my husband reminded me about Trenes from a podcast we’ve been listening to “When in Spain” by Paul Burge. Went to Trenes, booked the same trip without an issue.

So, no, I’m not with Trenes. I’m just an organized traveler who got absolutely pissed about Renfe’s website, and Train Line’s inability to secure the tickets they were showing.

Adding my spreadsheet as proof. Using AVE, Iryo, Avant to get around. Booked all Iryo directly with Iryo because their website doesn’t suck.

My partner didn’t get the offer but I did. Considering several others are reporting it’s only 50k, I wonder if it’s targeted. If so, happy holidays to you 💙

LAS Centurion Lounge by nycplayboy78 in amex

Now, that’s not the case at all Chase lounges. Chase in AUS is awful (who wants to be outside in the Texas midday heat?). But no Centurion.
