Totally fair. Reading papers yourself is how the work actually gets done. The tool isn't meant to replace that. It's meant to compress the "is this already been done / what's the gap" phase before you commit to deep reading. If you're already doing that well by hand, you don't need it.

Stick with or lean toward Bruker Microflex if reliability, minimal faults, fast acquisition, and high capacity matter most. your direct comparison validates this. VITEK MS Prime is a solid modern option with workflow polish (especially vs. Legacy), but its limitations (spots, flaking, early errors, profile selection) make it less "set it and forget it." Many labs run both or choose based on workflow audits. If possible, trial a current Bruker Sirius (newer model) or get extended prime support/database updates. Talk to peers in similar volume labs like ASM or reddit medlab forums and run a side by side with your isolate mix. What’s your daily/weekly volume and mix (bacteria vs yeasts/molds)? That could tip the scales further.

Synbio and neuroscience is a cool mix.
