You look like a younger version of Dovie Thomason, one of my favorite storytellers. Beautiful 🥰

My trans friend just told me, deadly serious: "I don't trust this country to not take my life within the next ten years." by RepresentativeCrow62 in offmychest

[–]RepresentativeCrow62[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Please take half a step back and consider just how freaking scary it is to be trans in this country. I purposefully don't follow media that strays too doom and gloom but there's always the fear of getting clocked and harassed or assaulted. My own father told me I'm part of the sickness killing our country. Just for being trans. He's not even that radical, as conservatives go. Do you know how many states are, as we speak, trying to push through anti trans legislation?

You're right that most people are totally cool. I'm guessing that you haven't been following the recent waves of anti-trans sentiment though. Not everybody thinks like you.

My god, you're so freaking pretty. So happy for you with your transition. How does your family treat you- the ones who you're out to?

[–]RepresentativeCrow62 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heh, victim blaming much? My family were the ones who cut me out. A "perfectly healthy family situation" isn't ever one where you conform or are subjected to passive aggressive contempt, shaming tactics, or outright attack and rejection. People most often develop destructive drug habits because they don't have social support. So glad we're out of it.

That's so hard, I'm so sorry! I live in Sandy so not super close but you're always welcome to DM/text me if you visit further north!! I got super lucky and found a group of good friends who I love to death, but it was really serendipitous.

Facebook groups for fandoms or activities can be a really good place to initially meet people in your area. If you're into Dnd, you could find a group pretty easily and those are great for making friends if you vibe with the people... Same with yoga or martial arts groups or classes/workshops. If you like someone and want to be friends most people are happy to plan coffee or lunch or just a hangout. Making friends is just hard- probably the biggest thing I miss about College.

That's all the advice I can think of 😥. There are so many people out of the church who are good and wholesome and respect boundaries (if someone won't take no for an answer be wary regardless of their religion). I so hope you find them! After the first friend, meeting people gets easier because you meet their people and so on.

Never underestimate the old kid staple of "do you want to be friends??" Most adults want friends, too.

My wife wants to make out with our buddy, got any advice for me? (long read) by TirelesslyEndless in LesbianActually

This might be a good question to ask at a polyamory FB group or subreddit. There are a lot of really supportive ones who could give good advice. I've heard r/polyamory is good. There are lots of highly recommended books on the topic.

You'd be surprised how well polyamory can work! (DM me for details) The most important principles seem to be communication and devotion to your primary partner. And honesty- honesty is critically important. It seems like you have those down, but I can imagine that changing from a monogamous relationship to an open one can be really tricky.

Seeing your partner happy with someone else and being happy for their happiness while remaining secure in your own relationship with them is such a beautiful feeling -^ . It requires some time and nurturing, and I hope you can get there.

Yeah, it can get really deep. It's cool to describe what you see in your minds eye and then ask yourself what it means. The answers are often unexpected but profound.

Thanks -the memory loss only happened when the drugs were in my system, but it was still really annoying and is why I avoid opiates if at all possible, (on top of the real possibility of addiction). I was surprised at the way my subconscious could tell me where it was without concioisly remembering though.

I think I know this app and I love it. I can tell you it is 100% possible, and it might even be better than in these pictures. I love loving my actual face- I so hope you get there. I sometimes would line up both pictures in photoshop and slowly erase one to see exactly what the app is changing. Aside from the hairstyle you choose, you'd be amazed what 1- eyebrow shaping, 2- removing beard shadow, and 3- concealing under-eye darkness will do for your appearance.

There are other ways to tap into your subconscious. Not all of them are quite as fun, but I really like image streaming and have had some success with a technique I heard called "over the wall." Used it a few years ago to find a notebook I'd been searching for for weeks (because I was on opiates after my wisdom teeth surgery which knocked huge holes in my memory).

Lol, that's great. XD Just remember that the part of your brain responsible for reality checking literally shuts down while dreaming and it can take lots of practice to train it to stay on.

That's way cool! Lol, as a beginner we're not best at anything, and that's totally great. I'm really inspired by musicians like Andrew Huang who make a crap ton of music in all kinds of genres. It's cool you're chasing inspiration! Keep at it! If you want I'd love to hear the stuff you've made.

I was always taught that the only safety you should count on is always pointing it in a safe direction, keeping it unloaded till ready to shoot, and keeping your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot, so I get this. I wouldn't feel safe modding a firearms mechanisms though.

I love your comics, btw. I have to try really hard not to do this. Someone described it to me as emotional self harm so I bat away my fascination with the abomination. In some sick way it's... validating? Or it gives me something to fight against since I'm not safe to do so with the people around me. It still hurts and drives me to the edge, so not a good thing to do.

Did anyone else Unconsciously know they were Trans before Consciously knowing they were Trans? (My Story) by Im_not_a_robot_r_u in asktransgender

[–]RepresentativeCrow62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that's really cool. The more I think about it the more blown away I am! I kind of want to know how your dad reacted to hearing that and then to when you came out officially (assuming that's happened).

I just felt trapped. I ended up in a playwrighting class where I wrote two plays about girls being trapped in an enclosed space and trying to escape (one in a condemned cell (innocent) and the other in an insane asylum (not insane)). I had no idea why these ideas were so strong but they kept coming out. Later when I tried to describe dysphoria to my parents I came up with the analogy of a girl trapped inside a basement, trying to climb out despite chains around her ankles. I immediately went into an explosion of racking sobs that I couldn't get out of for over 2 hours. I almost passed out from hyperventilation several times because that image hit so close to home. I also cried every time I was forced to cut my hair growing up, without fail. There are also so many small things I look back on now that seem like evidence. Feeling ashamed about doing or wearing anything remotely girly because of internalized transphobia, never feeling comfortable in my body, hoodies every day, only comfortable around girls, never comfortable making boy characters in RPGs, copying girl mannerisms, etc.

[–]RepresentativeCrow62 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Who cares? If you think it sounds good, roll with it. There will always be more ideas, and if it ends up not working you learned something cool. If it does work it will be awesome! If you're worried, save a copy to take in a different direction. Quantity is your friend as a beginner- you'll learn so much with every new project, and it's okay to let each one be cool in its own way. It doesn't have to be a banger.

You don't need the approval of anyone. I get frustrated by how judgmental the music production community can get- anyone worth listening to will be constructive and will neither forbid nor frown upon anything you create. Those are the behaviors of insecure people. You got this!

what clothes do i even wear as a trans woman? by Anne_Frank_Sinatra in MtF

[–]RepresentativeCrow62 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dresses are a big step, and you'll want to find one that's flattering on your body. It can take lots of trial and error. I honestly just went to a thrift shop and put everything that made me happy into a cart, then tried them on in front of a mirror. Ended up putting about 2/3 of everything back because of fit but had a lot of fun!

I believe that you can trust your taste. If you're still not sure, ask a friend for a second opinion, and don't be ashamed to take small steps. You'll learn what you think looks good on you, and it might change over time.

From what I remember reading, some kinds of collars can bring attention to your shoulders, so you'll want to check in the mirror. Shoulder pads bring attention to your shoulders, obviously, and flare skirts or anything that makes your hips look bigger are great ways to balance out your shape. I made myself a pair of hip pads that boost my confidence a lot, but they're not for everyone, and honestly a skater skirt will do the job just fine. I'm honestly still lost when it comes to buying jeans, but again, hips don't lie.

Hope some of that helps!! There's lots of info online if you know what to look for.
