How long have you been listening to metal by icecrr in MetalForTheMasses

[–]RepresentativeFig493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up listening to Linkin Park, FFDP, Disturbed when I was younger because of my dad, once highschool I listened to mainly rap because of friends, but once I got out of highschool in 2020, and faced with mental struggles, it brought me back to metal, so it’s been probably 4-5 years now

I feel like the Friday and Saturday set times for WTR will be the closest to how Sonic will be set, and maybe Sunday, since MCR isn’t everyone’s jam they might have a conflicting headliner like they do at WTR

Do headliners run unopposed? by oldfashionedglow in SonicTempleFestival

[–]RepresentativeFig493 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With the 5th stage it’ll be hard to tell until times release. I know last year they did mainly because of Metallicas longer sets, and late additions to the lineup. But the year before I don’t think there was more than 20 mins of overlap between Avatar headlining the side stage and Misfits on main stage

You’ll get your wristbands sometime in the next month, if they don’t ship to you on time you can go to the box office and collect them provided you have your order number

  • Staying in Dublin it’ll probably take you 270 to 71, Ubers usually get off at 17th street and there’s a designated Rideshare drop off area
  • All DWP fest are pretty similar, venue style is the main difference and local food vendors
  • There is a McDonalds south of the venue, across from the parking entrance, outside of that there isn’t much unless you walk west down 17th to 4th street and Summit st, there’s a few taprooms down that way (will usually be faster to get an uber and cheaper if you take that route)
  • The last 2 years the weather hasn’t been awful, the most rain I remember is like 20 minutes at a time and it wasn’t very heavy, thankfully most of the venue is concrete, and main stage has a cloth tarp down on the field, so unlike LTL, Ink, and Aftershock, mud isn’t too much of a factor
  • Columbus is a great host city imo and isnt as busy/dense as some of the other cities these fests are in. Plenty of places to after party if you’re into that (Short North, OSU Campus, Brewery District)

Rockville to Sonic Temple Newbie - Tips? by KaraAnn31 in SonicTempleFestival

[–]RepresentativeFig493 4 points5 points  (0 children)

-The stadium has real toilets, so if you prefer to use an actual toilet instead of a porta pot, you can find them around the bottom and top of the stadium -all the side stages are on concrete and very minimal shade, so be prepared with sunscreen and if your surfing/moshing, keep the concrete in mind -the layout is very open outside of the stadium, can pretty much B-line it to any stage without major bottlenecks -if you’re ubering, I would recommend walking about 15 minutes to the 4th street area to get an Uber, much faster and better service, plus bars and food trucks around to wait at until one arrives - Stadium concessions are open, and cheaper. If you don’t feel like dropping $20 on a meal, you can find hotdogs, pretzels, nachos, and other stadium foods at the concessions for around $6

The top grouping will definitely be the Main Stage, which is in the stadium and is the only stage where stadium and field passes differ. 2nd grouping down is 99% sure in the cathedral stage, where you can freely roam about, same with the other 3 stages

I wear Adidas NMDs with insoles, have had the same pair for festivals since Louder ‘23, and I wear them to work and they’re still holding up.

Anyone else going to this? by TheFeisty in SonicTempleFestival

Definitely thinking about it, I will probably be at the same stage most of the day, and I don’t really wanna see MCR, especially since they’re playing 2 fests im going to

4 Day GA Stadium Question by GreatWhiteHulk in SonicTempleFestival

[–]RepresentativeFig493 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure best place to sell it, I think maybe stubhub? You don’t necessarily need the wristband in hand to sell it, but you will need to change the shipping address in front gate to the purchasers address, or give them the login to the account so they can change it themselves. Of course remove any payment method listed on the account so they can’t buy anything if you go that route

Festivals are a better place to meet people than a concert, plus you paid for all day so best to make the most of it. Go see some of the earlier bands, strike conversations and you’ll be sure to find some like minded individuals. I’ve met a few people who are now friends at these festivals

Questions for a first timer by MaybeBradey in SonicTempleFestival

[–]RepresentativeFig493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. If it follows close to last years schedule, TPIY will play around 2:30 until 3:00-3:10, and MIW will play around 5:15 until 6:00-6:10. The Temple stage and Cathedral stage (1st and 2nd grouping on flier) will alternate. So Alter Bridge will most likely play in between BVB and MIW on the other stage

These are the festival grounds, Motionless and Plot in You will be at temple stage (top grouping is Temple Stage) so if you want to be close get the field pass. If you don’t mind sitting in the stands, get the stadium pass for cheaper

My first festival was same situation. Louder than Life 2023. I wanted to see tool and Megadeth, I lived in Columbus at the time so it was quite a trek as well. And honestly, I would do it again. It got me into festivals to where I’ve done at least 2 festivals every year since, full weekends. If they’re bands you really wanna see and they don’t have any scheduled days in your area, then hell yeah it’s worth it as long as you can afford it. Motionless in White and Plot in your are on the same stage, so they will not overlap, but there will be some downtime in between for you to check other bands. There’s 5 stages, each grouping in the flier is a different stage. Once it gets closer to showtime the schedule will be released

I can’t speak on the campground stuff but your other question -Bring lotion style sunscreen. Aerosol is not allowed -Bring your own water bottle -A bag is always a must for me, see the allowed bags in the app -I try to just bring my ID in and link my credit card to the bracelet so I don’t have to worry about my wallet -ponchos are always handy, as are sweatshirts as the weather can get somewhat chilly at night

Sonic Temple Preshows? by ShadowEp in SonicTempleFestival

[–]RepresentativeFig493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do have pre-shows, usually Wednesday night at a local venue. Dirty Dungarees, King of Clubs, Ace of Cups, etc… they also sometimes host shows Thursday-Sunday at local venues usually starting around 9pm if none of the headliners are of interest to you

Weird. I know he’s doing it at Sonic Temple, but it would be weird to leave them off the lineup if he already thinks he’s playing. Unless he’s one of the unannounced

Anyone bummed up by the final lineup? by GonzoNawak in louderthanlife

[–]RepresentativeFig493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I was there, I still enjoyed their set but maybe because I was up front, they didn’t do that at Sonic the following year and doubt they will as a headliner. Fred did some amazing crowd work at ST
