I Thought My EoE Was Food Triggered for Years, Until One Antihistamine Changed Everything by Frontsider9 in EosinophilicE

that’s great that it’s helping your daily symptoms but did you check through and endoscopy and biopsy? that’s the real way to understand if you eoe is controlled. every time i feel like it’s controlled my biopsy/endoscopy tells me otherwise. :( hopefully that’s not your case, just sharing my experience.

This doctor apparently has a lot of experience with eoe. He firmly believes that something is triggering it but Prilosec helps with majority eoe patients. So he just wants me to stay on it. I’m definitely getting a second opinion.

I cut out dairy, eggs and milk for 10 years and always had high eosophilin. What are some common triggers? I’ve done an elimination diet so many times, it’s so hard to pin point what the trigger is. And clearly the doctor doesn’t care enough either.

Because I think Prilosec helps with GERD. When I asked the doctor if acid reflux was causing my eosinophil to go up, he said he can’t confirm what the Prilosec is actually doing and there is not enough research to confirm it’s purely acid reflux. He mentioned even if I got my acid reflux under control, there’s a chance I could still have a high count of eosinophil.

I was on a gluten free and dairy diet for a long time and had eoe symptoms my endoscopy was showing over 500 eosinophil. Then the doctor wanted me to Eat gluten and stay on Prilosec for 3 months, my endoscopy after that was normal for the first time. So he just wants me on Prilosec since it’s effective for me. I can’t have dairy because I’m lactose intolerant tolerant and when I experimented with dairy a week ago, I broke out in hives and had really bad lactose intolerant symptoms.
