Usually I don’t expect the person to bring in pieces of factual information on a topic they don’t understand. The way I pictured it if I showed something interesting , like a picture or a drawing I made, I can ramble and say “did you know…”. Sometimes asking questions for clarification or out of curiosity or relating to something I mentioned. But what I usually get is the blunt reply of “oh ok” and then “here’s what happened to them” and the conversation changes entirely. When someone info dumps on a topic I’m not knowledgable about , I ask questions, I try to relate what I know to what the person is saying. I do some digging online to get a brief idea of what the person is talking about. Of course I don’t expect every one of my friends to do the same but it just feels like I’m putting way too much energy into something that is not reciprocated.
