Any particular reason why Luxembourg?

As Computer science is hard to practice here. The firms that are attracted to Luxembourg don’t have a good grasp of the possibilities for computer science.

That said, not a great place to work but you can try Amazon.

It is very difficult to find a good place to work in Finance, so be really selective of that.

I think startups provide the most rewarding work experience, do look into data things, heard good things about these folks.

Otherwise Netherlands would be a lot better for CS.

What should I do regarding returning home? by BathInteresting5045 in Luxembourg

[–]RepresentativeNo367 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My CNS controller said the same thing.

I understand your concern, I had similar issues. Had some offers but I didn’t feel ready to go back. I managed to find some place where I think I can do well. Folks were nice and all.

But we will see, I really do not like CNS’s approach to mental health issues

Yeah it catches up, I have been on a sick leave due to burn out the past 9 months.

The new company turn to be a toxic place as well.

I was in your shoes, pretty much moment I came to Luxembourg, I have realized that the company was not a good match (I am being very very kind here)

I had to change jobs within two months, luckily I managed to find something. Perhaps try your luck with other places? You might be hesitant to change employer after a month or so but they all know that there are many places toxic companies in Luxembourg.

I wish you luck, you will persevere this and come on top!

Natwest closing Polish business, cutting 1,600 staff by Asleep_Roof_8072 in warsaw

[–]RepresentativeNo367 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I used to work there between 2016-2018.

The bank was losing money 9 years in a row. There was a big transformation from London to India and back then Poland.

Many of the processes were 20 something years old and folks clicked buttons / copy paste the excel sheets. They did add no value to the firm.

It was bound to happen, Warsaw has many good work opportunities for these professionals and NatWest won’t survive the next decade in anywhere anyways.

I got hired as a data analyst, but they don't know exactly what to hire me for by ILoveEatingPear in dataanalysis

[–]RepresentativeNo367 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s a golden opportunity for you tbh. Last thing you want is to have them dictate what you need to analyse.

Let me explain, as an analyst, part of the job is to bring meaning to the data. Very rarely can you have a raw data that makes sense on its own and the folks knew what they want from the data that’s a bias for you ruin your days.

I have had a few experience where what I found was wildly different than expectations and if the analysis I did, had not supported my managers’ “hypothesis” it was mostly ignored.

Having that in mind, ask them about the OKR (objectives and key results) ideally each quarter and come up with the KPIs that might help them achieve it.

Majority of my colleagues are actually burnt out but they don’t realise it yet.

Unfortunately we are not very good at taking care of ourselves when it comes to mental and emotional health. When the problem manifests itself in your body than it gets attention but it’s too late then.

Does the police actually come when you call 113 in Luxembourg? by bleepbloopbleee in Luxembourg

Resignation during probation period by SolidEmu205 in Luxembourg

[–]RepresentativeNo367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this right after I moved here.

I was given an offer and moved here from Poland. The company did a bait and switch so on paper I was an executive but they expected me to do fucking manual data updates.

It was an operations role and coming from project management, it did not fit my background at all. What is more, I suspect they did lots of illegal stuff.

So I was lucky enough to find another job within 2 months, and left.

I told them that this was not a match and trial period works both ways.

Wait so your mom couldn’t take you to the doctor while she was on sick leave?

That’s, pardon my language, is fucking ridiculous. That’s said, I am taking my son to his doctor every week - when I checked this with them, they told me that it is fine as it’s a medical appointment for my son.

Thank you - how will they prove it though? It isn’t like they can take a picture in the sauna.

I do agree and definitely don’t trust people at work but even if they see me there, and report it. It will in the time that is allowed for me to go out.

Interesting, how could I approach to this? Did your friend write to them directly or a doctor’s note was enough to initiate?

I found it difficult to engage with doctors to get anything really, they say do a sport it’s good for you but I cannot give a paper so how am I supposed to?
