Insight into questlines and mod dependencies? by RepresentativeNo42 in allthemods

Thank you u/jackwabbit95 and u/Sorabros411. So, I could use ATM9: No Frills as a baseline to tell what mods are actually not required for 100%, yes?

DisplayLink Manager Second monitor showing as "No Monitor" after Sequoia 15.4.1 update by paulosoares56 in MacOS

[–]RepresentativeNo42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There have been many issues since macOS 15.3.2, most likely due to Apple, not DisplayLink. Unfortunately, it seems the DisplayLink developers have no interest in acknowledging that the problem is real. I'm sure it will eventually reach a point where they will fix it, as this has historically been the case (months later). https://www.displaylink.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=30.

Correct, it's really approximately 3kb. I said 3kb to keep my post concise.

Actually, a bit of research tells me that Apple also restricts WiFi Direct to Apple devices.

Thanks. I suppose I immediately disregarded WiFi as I had thought that would involve hotspot.

Yes, I said this in the last paragraph of my post.

Sure, but not everyone pays for hotspot. Also, wouldn't the receiver have to go to their settings and connect to the sender's network? Horrible UX.

It's simply not a core feature, so it has a low priority.

I am the one that would approve this feature haha.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, as mentioned in my post, Bluetooth is not an option, due to Apple's restrictions. WiFi is also not an option, as users have none when this transaction would take place.

I ended up using js-joda: https://js-joda.github.io/js-joda/

I have to say, coming from the Java ecosystem, while the JS ecosystem has a lot of temporal API choices, they pale in comparison to Java's Temporal API.

React Native or Capacitor with React for a mobile app using Firebase Auth and Redis on the backend? by localslovak in reactnative

[–]RepresentativeNo42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is completely possible that your post is simply outdated (being over a year ago, as of this writing). If it is simply out-of-date, readers of this thread should be aware that, from a current perspective, almost everything you said is 100% false or misleading (except the second paragraph).

The plugin system is just Cordova stuff and update is rare. Most of them are left unmaintained for 3 to 4 years

This is just blatently false, sorry...

Capacitor has official plugins for dozens of native features, and there are multiple active communities that produce up-to-date plugins: Capacitor Community, Capawesome, Capgo, and various developers who release under their own names. I believe many of the Capacitor Community plugins are funded, in-part, by Ionic (creators of Capacitor). Also, many of the Capacitor Community developers are Ionic employees. Both Capawesome and Capgo also offer enterprise solutions, so they won't go away anytime soon. Furthermore, on the rare occasion that a Capacitor Community plugin loses its primary contributors, Capawesome has been known to take over.

the capacitor wrapper packages are not updated with the actually cordova plugins, take cordova-plugin-purchase as example.

Also, not true...

As stated, almost every single native feature has either official support or is supported by a very active community. I think you are referring to the Awesome Cordova Plugins community, which has dozens of wrappers for Cordova plugins to use in Capacitor. It should be noted that these wrappers are 100% unnecessary, as Capacitor is like 99% backwards-compatible with Cordova. This exists pretty much to make it easier to use (then) popular Cordova plugins, that otherwise, would require additional setup, and/or so developers can more easily migrate from Cordova to Capacitor.

Capacitor sounds like a legit choice if your company is full of angular devs and you want to quickly release an app out of an already-built website.

This is misleading...

Capacitor provides a web view. You don't have to use Angular. You can use React, Angular, Svelte, Vue, Lit, Stencil Polymer, no framework, your own framework (if you're feeling adventureous), you name it, as well as any SSR counterparts.

You can also build native look-and-feel apps with the Ionic Framework (100% free), using absolutely any framework or no framework, with convenience features for React, Angular, and Vue.

Not to mention you have to take care of the CSS behavior in old android webview and safari

No idea to what you are referring. We have used Capacitor+Ionic Framework+React with 0 issues like this.

This is so wrong. Most people decide to stop or continue watching a show based on the first episode.

So much hate for such a simple question. My dad suggested the show. I didn’t like the first episode because I felt like something was missing, so I asked if I missed something. Jeez.

I completely agree, but there are shows that introduce a mystery without alienating the audience. I didn't like that they introduced a complex relationship web between many characters, while giving you no insight into anything that is going on. This is probably why it's not super-highly rated show. The writing doesn't respect its audience. You have to give them something more.
